Hi ladies, just a quick one re drinks.Did any of you who had a hotel/similar wedding have an open bar/put money behind the bar, and if so, how much did it cost/how long did it last, and how many guests did you have, and how much were drinks?
I ask because we want guests to spend as little as possible. At the moment, we’re putting £2.5k behind the bar for the evening (during the day we’re providing 2 glasses of buck’s fizz, 1/2 bottle wine/2 bottles lager/2 bottles cider, and a glass of champagne pp) and will consider extending this to £3k on the night. We’re limiting this to certain wines by the glass (£6 for 175ml), certain single spirits with mixers, lager, and cider. If guests want cocktails or champagne, or wines/spirits which aren’t on our list, they’ll need to pay (cocktails start at £9 and go up to £15; some of the spirits are priced at £25 for a single; you get the picture!).
We have 100 guests, around 10-15% of whom won’t be drinking alcohol. We have about 30 ‘hard core’ drinkers; the remainder drink an average amount. Some will defnitely pay extra for drinks which aren’t included (we have a couple of whisky connoisseurs who will definitely spend on the premium whiskys; some of the women will likely sample the cocktails; etc)
It’d be great to know if anyone has done something similar and if so, how long the tab lasted. Our evening do will finish as late as 3am potentially, and we really want the money to go as far as possible. So, if we have to spend more, we’ll try to find the cash and make cuts elsewhere.
Thanks in advance!
