Soon2bmrs1 :  I just got my Ava bracelet, so can’t give you much insight yet. I’m using it for my first cycle now. So far I really like that it tells me how much sleep I get. There is a good review here: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12714536/ava-bracelet-a-review-with-screenshots#latest. However, that is for the old version with the old band.

I will also comment that the app it connects to on your phone updated just this week and the additions are awesome. You can now record not just your period, but sex, how your body feels, your mood, CF, pregancy tests taken, etc. So that is  HUGE improvement.

In terms of cost $250 is a lot, however, I just kind of shrugged and called one in a long line of things I will probably pay too much for in the name of a child. Lol!!

I just started wearing it! Its really neat to see the stats. Theres no way Im going to deal with temping, charting etc… it just looks too annoying.

Also, people post discount codes online. Try AVABFF2017 or AVABFF50 . I got 50$ off mine.

I wanted to track my cycles because I have a 1 yr old, and my husband and I want to try to avoid pregnancy for another year or so before TTC baby #2.  My sleep schedule is not reliable, as my daughter sometimes sleeps through the night and sometimes doesn’t.  I don’t want to set an alarm to temp and risk waking her up, since she sleeps in my bedroom still currently.  I bought the Ava bracelet a few months back.  (I got the old version that was $200.  Didn’t like the band so I use the alternative suggested method, which is to wear the device underneath a tennis sweatband.  So much more comfy and secure.  Not sure how the new band is, but I bet the tennis band is still better.)  The ava app has been slightly off in predicting my cycles every month.  I could tell it was going to be wrong just from looking at the chart.  However, when I put the temps from Ava into fertility friend, FF accurately determines ovulation/my period start date every time.  Still waiting to see if the ava app will improve when it has more months of data, and the new software updates.  But I consider this a successful purchase, I just still prefer using FF over the ava app for accuracy so far.

Here some previous charts to compare.  Ava adjusts ovulation date backwards after you say your period started.  I guess it must use a standard luteal phase length or something?

Relative n00b to temping (only a month in) and my chart is erratic because my sleep is, too. Do you have to wear the Ava all day, every day? Does it matter if you go to bed at 10 one night and 2 the next? TIA!

Soon2bmrs1 :  I manually enter them in.  I don’t have the full version anymore now that I am not TTC currently.  Not sure if there is a way to get it to automatically link up, but it only takes a second to enter the temps in.

MrsBuesleBee :   pearlrose :  Thanks.

Has anyone done temping regularly first, and then tried the Ava? If so, were your temps more regular? I’m wondering if my temps would be erratic no matter what given how much of a restless sleeper I am…

cbgmtx :  I am just too lazy to temp, it’s not going to happen. So I got no info for you there!

cbgmtx :  I used to temp the traditional way when we were TTC my daughter.  This was the chart for the month I got pregnant with her.  I usually get lazy and would stop after I feel confident my ovulation day had passed.  I have not tried normal temping since she was born.  I am certain it wouldn’t work right now.  Plus I do not want to have to wait for a thermometer if she needs me for something.
