I’ve had it done (Embarassed) multiple times.  I noticed a difference but nothing earth shattering like weight loss or going down pants sizes, and you can’t tell AT ALL if you gain weight.  In my waist, I can see more of an hourglass shape and I notice that it’s the first place to respond when I lose weight, but the bottom pooch is still there, which I was hoping to get rid of.  My arms are much smaller, but I’ve never regained the muscle strength I had in them from before and the undersides are bumpy.  I’ve had one other procedure, and that was a complete waste of money in my opinion.

I should also say, I used to have the best legs and the most shapely calves.  I literally used to receive compliments on them even at my heaviest.  Now my thighs hold all my weight, I have fat I’ve never had around my knees, and my calves have no shape to them.  All the weight has been transferred there.  I used to be very square top small bottom, now I’m more hourglass.

What about a tummy tuck if you’re worried about the pooch?  That’s what I want to get one of these days…..I’ve lost a good amount of weight but the lower belly pooch isn’t really leaving yet.  Then again, once I get to my goal weight I plan to try the trainer route first since it’s a lot cheaper!

@wifegoodman:  I’m totally flat above the pooch.  Lipo did change that.  From the side I’m spoon shaped if you know what I mean

    i   -above belly

    D -below belly

You don’t want a tummy tuck.  Unless you’re formerly obese with sagging skin, no reputable Dr. would even give you one.  Plus they’re supposed to be extremely painful with a long recovery time.  I was back to work 2 days after.

I looked into it, way too expensive IMO. I have way better things to spend that kind of money on.

My mother had a great deal of cosmetic surgery done a few years ago including liposuction.

I personally feel like it was a huge waste of money. If you don’t modify your eating habits that fat comes right back and now that the fat cells have been removed through liposuction it often comes back in more awkward and less desirable places. My mom gained all the inches back in about six months or so and has funny “areas” now.

If you use liposuction as a way to resculpt your body after adopting healthy eating and exercise (and have perhaps lost weight) then it might be beneficial. Otherwise it is not a method to get thin and stay thin unless you plan on doing it constantly.

@clane616: I am in the same boat. Sadly my “pooch” is from extra skin that will only disapper with surgery and I’m not in the place to commit to that quite yet.

My mom did also have a tummy tuck and that is the one thing that I do think was worth the pain and money if you maintain the healthy eating/lifestyle.
