I just got approved to do some freelance writing! Yay for me! My first writing gig since in normal life I’m a scientist, but I’ve taken a grump break (or more I don’t want to work with nasty lab stuff while pregnant break)
There is one big problem. I don’t know grammar rules. Anyone have any good websites that are good at explaining grammer rules? I’ve tried to read the elements of style and I can’t stay awake.
How about you guys? Any good happenings this week?

Ummmm, we’re actually paying for our wedding bands tomorrow, picking up a BMs dress, getting together a sample of our DIY Place cards and table destinations, and then dinner (and a :sigh: talk) with my Maid/Matron of Honor.
Sunday is buying the undergarments for the wedding dress and my make-up trial (and wax!) its a wedding kinda wknd!!! lol

@UpstateCait: That’s awesome, did you find out right away or was this some contest you’d entered a long time ago?

@troubled: I was about to say that there are about a hundred copies of the Elements of Style here in the lab. My advisor is obsessed, but it puts me to sleep as well.

Fiance and I had date night this week! We have both been so busy and we get home from work we continue working (he’s getting overtime, and I am creating lesson plans). It was SOOO great to spend some quality time with my love!
I also found my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses this week! 🙂

@coconutmellie: I own a copy and I think I’ve opened it about 20 times trying to read it and failed miserably every time. Almost every lab I’ve been in has that freaking book and scientists are the worst writers ever so I’m pretty sure it’s just there for show and no scientist has ever done more than pretend to read it.

My husband turned in his resignation at a company where he worked 4-12midnight. Now, he’ll be working days 9-6pm and we’ll actually be able to spend time together EVERY day! We also are trying to sell my condo and we actually have a showing tomorrow. YAY!!!!

I was a Professional Writing major in college. We had to edit the Business majors’ papers. If scientists write anything like business people….yeah, you really should read Strunk and White. *shudders*

@Lillindy: Congrats! I have to admit I’m jealous. I’m about three weeks behind you and I don’t think our doctor is going to let us schedule the ultrasound before Christmas, which would have been so fun to tell the family then. But I guess it’ll just be another reason to celebrate a few weeks later.
