Hi there! I was originally looking at that ring too. I decided not to and went with another James Allen ring bc I thought the thin French pave was too thin and a wedding band wouldn’t sit flush with it since the prongs stick out a little on each side.

Take a look at mine. It’s also a JA ring

rufio7777:  The thin french cut pave is the ring I will be getting. My SO already has it, but has not proposed yet so I do not have a picture for you. But he showed me the setting before he purchased a stone, so I’ve seen the setting itself in person. I will tell you that it does look significantly different in person than the pictures online. The “divots” in between are not noticable in person, and it looks a lot thinner in person as well. I still love it, as I just wanted simple and as thin of a pave band as I could find.

The only thing I’m worried about the ring is that it sits kind of high, and like

milabeehappy: said, the prongs stick out enough that I’m not sure a band will sit flush. But, it is still beautiful.

I will post a picture once my SO finally proposes. I’m hoping it will be sometime on our vacation next week!

Here’s a link to a thread I started a few months ago, and a couple people commented on it with pictures of the thin and regular french pave from JA.

I have this setting with a round diamond. The divots are really not as drastic in person and the diamonds on the band are nice and sparkly, it definitely doesn’t look like it’s just a plain metal band. Here’s a few pictures of mine, I tried to dig up a few for you where you can actually see the spaces, but you really cant see them unless the ring needs to be cleaned.

Other posters are right and a normal band won’t sit flush against it, but you can get bands that will curve just around the prongs enough to sit flush.

Congrats! 🙂

noleita:  Your ring is beautiful! Is it the thin french cut or just the french cut? I have a hard time telling them apart in pictures. Also, do you mind sharing the carat size of your stone and your ring size? Do you have a wedding band yet? Would love to see what you have, if you do! Sorry for bombarding you with questions..lol!

futuremrss17:  Thank you!! Mine is the thin french cut, I’m a 4.5 and the center stone is .75. I don’t have my wedding band yet or I would absolutely share a photo with you, but when we first started looking I found a ring guard that I really loved…hardly anyone does a guard so I decided I should think about it and enjoy trying a bunch on in the meantime 😇

rufio7777:  I have the thin French cut pave from JA. I get compliments on my ring all time, and others seem to love his band/setting. I feel like I can tell there are diamonds on the band, and not just shiney metal.

rufio7777:  Thank you!  my fiance asked them and they did it for him at no extra cost. He had heard me mention months earlier that if I got a round diamond I preferred 6 prong over 4. He called them up to place the order and asked at that time. They even emailed him pictures of it before they sent it out to get his final approval. He said he absolutely loved working with JA and will likely be buying any future jewelry giftstore from them.
