I’m not getting married for another 2 years, but I wanted to do a veil. When will you ever wear a veil again? Mine is going to be a fingertip one that is edged with lace to match my dress.

Can you go to a bridal store and try on some veils to see if you like it?

The veil has been the one thing I haven’t regretted at all. I fell in love with my veil harder than I fell in love with my dress

I do. I feel ashamed to admit to it because I know my veil is beautiful and will look fine on the day but I totally felt pressured and rushed to pick one on the day I picked my dress. I had really just wanted to get the dress and then go home and  research my options for a veil. Mom was not having it so I tried on a few and after the group cheer for the one I had on it was a done deal. Now I know I shouldn’t do this but I went back to my original inspiration photos and the veil is nothing that I wanted. I wanted either a juliet cap or a lace edged drop veil. I try not to dwell on it because I know I wont be wearing it for more than a hour but I am a bit bummed. I dont have any advice for you I’m sorry but we can commiserate.

I have veil regret all the time! I ordered a cathedral-length drop veil, with a 30” blusher. It has little pieces of lace sewn a few inches in from the cut-edge, kind of cascading-like. Sometimes I wish I just got no lace, sometimes I wish I had splurged for silk tulle, sometimes I wish I went with a custom silk gauze veil from my seamstress. :[ I hope when my veil comes in (Nov 28!!!) I will like it, and the regret will go away!

@MASPA:  My fiance’s mom wore a juliet cap wedding veil when she was marrie din the early 80’s! I saw pictures, and it was gorgeous and timeless. She wore her hair down and loose. I am sure you will look beautiful in one, even with your hair like that. Also, maybe you can find one a bridal shop and try it on with the hairstyle you’re wanting. If they don’t have juliet caps (i know they’re not too common), maybe you can try on a regular gathered veil, and kind of flatten/shape it like a Juliet cap, just to see what it might look like. 🙂

I didn’t want one originally either but then I tried one on. My only regret maybe is that I shoulda worn it for longer to get my moneys worth or shoulda gown an elbow length one so it was more manageable

I didn’t want a veil originally, either.  The dress I bought (full satin ballgown), I thought called for one.  I didn’t want a cathedral length one, because I’m not getting married in a church and I thought it’d be more of a burden than anything.

Instead, I found a nice 2-tier fingertip length one from David’s Bridal, but it was selling for $200.  It was more than I wanted to pay, so I found the same one brand new on Ebay for $50.

Basically, I realized I did want to wear a veil, but I still didn’t want to pay a ton for it and it took me a while to figure out which type I wanted, especially because I didn’t have the dress to try on veils with.

I just went and tried some on and found one I felt comfortable in with detailing that matched my dress and went for it :).  You’ll find the right one.

I wanted a veil and I wore one for less than a minute. Not everything always works the way you plan it on your wedding day. Mine was a cathedral length veil, very long and I had an outdoor ceremony. Unfortunately for me it got caught on the cement more than once until it was pulled out of my hair. I didn’t get to wear it during myceremony which I was sad about when I look at the Ceremony photos. But I did put it back in many times throughout the day for pics. It made me feel like a bride I loveD mine so I say go for it !!!
