We’re probably going to do a BBQ “Meet and Greet” for the families in lieu of a rehearsal dinner.

We are!  We live in an urban high rise, but there is a beautiful rooftop deck, and we’re planning to have a casual BBQ up there for the rehearsal dinner.  There’s a pool too, so we’re hoping people will sort of make an afternoon out of it, come and go, and that we’ll get to see a lot of our guests in a more relaxed, laid back setting than the wedding.  We’re super excited.  Just planning to buy a bunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken (and some veggie stuff!) plus all the fixins, and we’ll let everyone go to town.  Add beer and wine, and it sounds like just about the perfect night to me!  We’re getting married one week after you!  It should be a great time of year for hanging out outside!

I’m probably going to have BBQ for my wedding.  🙂  Budget wedding and being from the south goes hand in hand with BBQ.

Yes, we are! Originally, we were going to have it a place taht wanted $3,000. With spending so much on the wedding, we couldn’t see spending that much. Plus, we are laid back and live on a like with a HUGE yard.

So, we are doing what we are calling a “rehearsal roast.” It will be a chance for people to “roast” us.. share a funny story, etc. And we are having a pig roast (I am a vegetarian- imagine that)

We will get a tent and fancy it up, but its so much more personal (and cheap!) than having it at a stuffy place.

That sounds like a fun idea! I didn’t even really think about that, but I think I may be doing that now!

That sounds like a great idea!! We are getting married in Atlanta so it will probably be at a hotel or restaurant but I love the idea of a bbq! We did that for one of our engagement parties and it was a blast!!!

Sounds great!!!

We are!!!! We have been thinking of either doing a pig roast, or tenderloins. Not sure which yet. But we are going to do it at FIL’s house, and one of my dad’s friends is going to cook for us.

Oh and I forgot to mention, that if my Boyfriend or Best Friend had it his way, we’d have a potluck wedding.

We are hosting a BBQ in our backyard for our Rehearsal Dinner – I think it will be nice to have a more casual laid back evening the night before with our wedding party and families!

Sort of!  We’re having our dinner at a beachfront Pensacola restaurant, but they’re bringing out long picnic tables for us on the sand, and we’re going to have above all things, some jerk chicken and bbq!  I wanted a beach bbq with a bonfire but there are laws in that county prohibiting it.  I even checked w/local authorities.

so we’re doing the next best thing!

We are too! We’re doing a BBQ/Wiffle Ball game. My Fiance is a Red Sox fan and me a Yanks girl so we’re having a red sox/yankees themed BBQ so the family can all meet and be casual… that way everyone knows each other for the wedding the next day. We’re doing the wedding rehearsal after the BBQ and it’s on a Saturday and the wedding Sunday.

We’re doing baseball park themed foods… the big 1/4 lb hot dogs, sausage and peppers, cracker jacks, beer 🙂 …and some healthier options too I think we’re gonna have red sox and yankees cupcakes for dessert.

GO YANKEES!!

We’re having a pre-wedding BBQ/rehearsal dinner!

@ Miss Biner: my parents had a potluck wedding and loved it, they like to bring up how cheap their wedding was!
