Can you be more specific? Have the salad served to the tables while everything else is buffet? That is how alot of caterers work but it’s not required or standard. The timeline would be the same no matter what.

I think it kind of sounds weird and like a waste of money for the service – or do an entire service! Put the salad bar with the buffet so people can do what they like with it, I LOVE customizing salad and always leave room on my buffet plate for it too!

I have been to a wedding like that. The salad was at your seat already when you left the cocktail hour and went to your table in the reception area.  Everyone ate the salad, and then, when the buffet was ready, they called people up to the buffet line by table number. It worked out fine.

I work as a caterer and we do that all the time.  Talk to your caterer regarding a reasonable timeline based on the number of servers you will have, the type of salad being served and the number of your guests.  You would need a ton more servers for a full plated meal–a plated salad course doesn’t require more staff than a regular buffet, although you would need to rent more plates since plated salads have their own plates and buffets with a salad rarely have an extra plate for the salad.

We had this, if I’m understanding your question correctly.  My venue always does served salad, even if it’s a buffet meal… So we had served salad and during this course, we had the toasts.  After that, my dad prayed and we began the buffet.

We are doing the same thing.  Salads will be at the table when guests are seated, our venues says salads usually take up longest time on a buffet line so it is easier for them to do it that way.

@Emilyholly1:  After we were done eating, we cut the cake and then did a couple outdoor shots… Then we did the special dances (1st dance, father/daughter, mother/son, and then anniversary dance) after everyone had gone through the buffet
