So we racked our brains trying to figure out where to go for our honeymoon and decided on Florida. Where in Florida is still up in the air…lol.
Basically, Fiance just got out of the military and when talking about honeymoon destinations he was not very thrilled about leaving the country again so soon. I don’t blame him though, over the past four years the poor guy has been to Cuba, Iraq, Africa, Thailand, Japan, Guam, Australia…to name a few lol.
So Florida is just far enough to make it a vacation and its still romantic 🙂
So who else is going to Florida for their honeymoon? Where are you staying? What do you plan on doing?

Darling Husband and I honeymooned at Walt Disney World and it was tons of fun! Don’t know if that sounds too cheesy for you and your Fiance but it’s really a great time since you have the parks, great hotels, tons of nice restaurants, and a lot of other attractions nearby. You should consider it, but I know there are tons of other great places to honeymoon in Florida as well!

I’m not honeymooning there, but I am from Florida! Disney is a fun choice and they are good to honeymooners. But if you want a bit more low key – there are some beautiful beach towns you can go relax at (check out the panhandle – Destin, Watercolor, Seaside et al). If you want a few more options than the beach, there are osme great low key historic places to explore (St Augustine, or Apalachicola) or some other water activities like snorkleing with manatees are around Crystal River. Feel free to PM me if you have more specific questions.

I’m from Florida, too (Southern Florida that is). Make sure that if you do decide to honeymoon in FL, you do your research about hurricane season, travel insurance, etc. I’m not much of a beach person, but you can look into the keys, and fort lauderdale too. PM me if you have any questions, more than happy to help.

I am from Florida (lived there for 22 years)…The central florida area (from Tampa to Cocoa Beach) has a great variety of things to do. You could hit beaches on both cost, St. Pete and Cocoa Beach. You could hit amusement parks Busch Gardens, Disney World, Universal Studio. Do some major damage to credit cards in Orlando at any number of shopping locations including Florida Mall. Learn how to surf at Cocoa Beach and watch a rocket launch from cape canaveral!
Other locations in Florida to consider:
- <span class=”text1″>Naples
- Boca Raton
- Sanibel Island
- Amelia Island
- Key West (or any of the keys)
What kind of things would you be interested in doing?

I love Florida. I really only like it in march, april, and may. I’m pretty sure hurrican season begins in June and continues until November. Hurrican Ivan appeared in September!
Which is why we aren’t going to honeymoon in Fl. We loove palm beach island, i love boca. My mom looooves sanibel, but I think it’s boring! The best place is probably south beach!

The Fiance and I just booked our airplane tickets to Key West! I’m so excited to go to the most southern most tip of the U.S!

I didn’t even think about hurrican season! Our wedding is the first weekend in September…darn it. I’m going to do a little more research on this.
Has anybody ever had their honeymoon in Florida…in September? haha.

SpaceC06-We really liked the idea of going to some amusement parks and just relaxing on a beach. But I’m always up for some good shopping! We were thinking Daytona Beach? My dad has a condo there and if we could use that, it would save us some money 🙂 Any thoughts on that area?

I can’t think of any better place to go then Seaside. It’s so wonderful. It’s not clubby or cheesy like South Beach, etc. and the beaches are beautiful, houses are darling and the food is great!

By The Way, depending what part of FL you go to, you will "probably" be fine in September. We were in Seaside during Katrina. It rained for about 6 hours and then that was it.

I’m actually getting married on the beach in Panama City Beach, Fl on 10/17/09 so we decided we will just honeymoon there also. I love Panama. They have a amusement park, waterpark, new mall called Pier Park with lots of restaurants and a movie theater. There is parasailing, swimming with the dolphins, jet skiing and you can rent scooters too. Your options are endless.

First of all .. thank yourFi for serving!
Florida is a great idea. The Keys are really laid back and relaxing. Ft; Lauderdale has nice lively beaches and great resturants. ANnd if you want really lively, Miami’s Southbeach area has it all. Enjoy!

Awww Thank you happynluv 🙂 I will tell him you said that.
We decided on Daytona Beach 🙂 We want to do DisneyWorld and Sea World, but we weren’t too keen on staying in family oriented resorts, so this way, we get the beach, we are close to the Daytona track so Fiance can take a tour there and we can take a day to drive over to Disney or whatever else if we want 🙂
Does anybody know of any places that are "must sees" while in Daytona?
