I just logged on to ask the exact same question!  I am very confused with the florist choices.  I have an appointment with Atlas in the next few weeks and spoke with Superior also.

On the phone, I felt very comfortable with Superior.  They seemed flexible, reasonable and willing to work with my monetary expectations.  They really were good at giving me an idea of what price range I was looking at for the type of vision I had.

A little birdie told me that Superior is good if you have your own “vision” because they are great at executing, but rely a lot on what you say (which I like).  Some of the florists on the list are more creative and have more ideas and input into what they create for you.  I also heard great things about Atlas so I am excited to meet with them and will also call Bardin Polomo this week!

I noticed you also asked about photographer in your original post – I am not using one of their preferred photographers but I am sure they are all wonderful!

Which hotels are you using for your guests?

a little off topic, but does anybody know what the price is or a range of what the price is per person for this venue?

@mah:  I’m booking at the marriott downtown too… what rate did they give you?  I was a bit peeved that they make you guarantee 80% of the rooms, and the room rate they gave me is the same as the regular rate for my weekend.

for photographers and florists etc, I bought the New York brides magazine.  They had tons of recommendations at the back.  My venue is the private yacht – Star of America leaves from Chelsea piers.  The owner (Dorit) also had recommendations for me… so it’s been quite easy … relatively… the hotel has been my hardest part.

My wedding was at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers… great venue. ๐Ÿ˜‰  For flowers we went with Kiriba at Atlas.  We were really happy with that he did!  My review of him is on the reviews on this website, I think.

We did a photographer that was not on their recommended list, CLY Creatiion…they were great.

Our pics are up on the SMP blog (search for CLY Creation Manhattan wedding) if you want to see how the flowers or photos turned out.

You’re going to have a great wedding!!
