I want to have my hair half up, half down & curled but we are having a ceilidh for our reception – a ceilidh is basically like a Scottish barndance (We are getting married in Scotland) which involves a lot of whirling around etc. I normally wear my hair down and it gets a bit of a state with lots of dancing, so I’m just wondering if there is anyway to keep it from looking a total mess basically!
Are any of you having your hair half up, half down & have some way to keep your hair from a tangled look with loads of dancing, or wind? I don’t mind by the end of the night so much but think it may be a big mess before then so just wondering if there are any options apart from putting my hair totally up.

I did the same hair style as you. Half up and half down with lots of curls. Hairspray is your friend. My hairdresser went crazy with the hairspray. My hair looked great, it wasn’t crusty and it had movement but it lasted allll night. Also, bring extra bobby pins with you just in case you have a fly away so you can fix it easily.

I think if your hair is styled properly with lots of product then it won’t be a problem.

Agreeded ^ I am doing a half updo and I have to do Greek dancing with my Fiance, his father, his uncle…all the immediate males in his family (tradition) and theres 23 of them!! yeah, i need to work out before hand lol. I did a practice updo and then danced around like crazy for an hour to see if it held up.
BOBBY PINS ARE THE BEST INVENTION EVER plus the fact that I am getting heavy duty clips with real crystals on them helps…plus she used hair spray and this mouse type stuff that REALLY kept the hair nice and preventing it from looking/getting sweating. because with that much dancing you sweat a little which could cause it to frizz. However, this product creates a hydrophobic mask over it so no problems in that area!

@splatt11x: I love that – do a practice hairstyle & dance around for an hour 🙂 Good plan!
Great, thanks ladies. I have never managed to use the right hairspray to stop my hair going icky so I’m glad I am having my hair done by a hairstylist on the day. My trial is in March/April sometime so I shall get her to use the right product – you have reassured me it is possible! Bobby pins sound like a plan as well, I want to use flowers or something in my hair so I may get aritificial ones which will hold it properly.
