he hasn’t purchased my e-ring yet, but when asked what i wanted i said -“no big diamond”! i think i’m with you, it’s sort of boring to me to have a big colorless stone that costs so much. i’m hoping for a deep blue sapphire or chocolate diamond.
pick a stone and google it with “engagement”-it’s a gold mine! [attachment=530179,69686]

My camera is terrible, so I don’t have picture of my actual ring, but I have a picture of a ring that looks almost exactly like my ring, but with a slighter thinner band. I have a 3 stone blue Sapphire center ring set in white gold. LOVE it! plain diamonds are pretty, but soo….plain! I wanted a little color on my finger and LOVE the color blue. I love me some colored stone rings!

It’s not officially mine yet but we shopped and bought it in July. ::::patiently waiting::::
It an emerald centerstone, halo and pave diamonds. It pretty much looks like this except the setting is prong istead of bezel (not the best b/c emeralds are so delicate but I had to have it!!):

I have a bluel diamond. He surprised me but you wouldn’t believe the compliments i get. I agree about a colorless diamond being boring. Mine turns different shades of blue in certain lights. it’s a joy to catch it in a hue I’ve never seen before. I get a rush of excitment and a reminder of how special my guy is. We bought diamond online and had it set at a local jewelers. Couldn’t find a setting in blue but I love the effect. Looking for a wedding band now and a matching groom’s ring. Champagne diamonds are lovely and come in many many shades. Pretty rare though, you have to search on ebay or something. Hope that helps! I’m a BIG advocate of colored diamonds. We’re really into science so it’s cool to tell the store of how they got like that.

My wedding band has colored stones. It’s set in platinum alternating between sapphire and diamonds.

There’s no rule that says an engagement ring has to involve diamonds! You’re free to wear whatever gemstone you love, or one that’s meaningful to both of you. 🙂 I do have 1 suggestion though: make sure you choose a colored gemstone that’s durable enough for everyday wear. For example, Tanzanite and emerald are more fragile, but sapphires and tourmaline are great e-ring possibilities. Have fun shopping!

I have diamonds but for a few years i wore a ring on my ring finger that was pink tourmaline and had two tiny diamonds on each side and EVERYONE asked if i was engaged/married
