I just bought this wedding dress for a song in two sizes above my normal street size. How hard do you think it is going to be to alter it? The hips are probably the only measurement that is close. I am concerned about the pintucks. The fabric is stretch silk crepe de chine. Also, is a notched or sweetheart neckline possible? I’m afraid this is too boring and will accentuate my arm fat 🙂

The only note of advice that I would give is to consider a seamtress or alterations place that works with bridal gowns regularly – or even is the alterations depatment in a bridal salon. (There are many bridal salons that will do alterations on an outside dress – mine would.)

I think both alterations ( I like the sweetheart neckline idea) are absolutely possible (I’ve worked as a professional seamstress in the past). Considering the structure of wedding gowns, plus the pintucks, it will take the seamstress some time, so be prepared to pay some for it (I don’t know how much it might be, not knowing how such things are in your area).
