@Rubbs:  I don’t. Because my first name is hyphenated, so I would not want two hyphenated names! 🙂

My married name is already long enough and it would sound funny with my maiden name so…no 🙂

I hyphenated mine. I rarely sign things with my hyphenated name, I just usually stick to my old name or I put my initials. I’m glad I hypenated my name for my DH’s sake (he was worried about banking confusion) but I do not think of myself as someone with two last names…I just see myself as the person with the same name as before I got married. In fact, my mom noticed that today and asked why I never say my hyphenated name or sign it…I guess it will take some getting used to (has only been 2 months!).

I am not hyphenating but as far as the teacher part goes, I have had teachers with hyphenated names and we usually just called them by initials

In high school I had a teacher whose hyphenated name was 5 syllables so we just called her Mrs W.

In college now I have a professor who added his wife’s name on to his so we called him Dr. H-K

@Rubbs:  I’m a teacher, and both DH and I hyphenated hisname-myname.  I just have my students just call me Mrs. Hisname (simply because it was first), though I do have students who call me both or refer to me by my maiden.  I’m used to all of them 🙂

I plan on taking my FI’s last name. I am attached to my last name, but I have been using FI’s last name in the past few weeks for a few things (my PADI c-card for our honeymoon, takeout, online orders) and I have been realizing how easy it is to spell and use compared to my own.

Although my Fiance used my last name the other day, mostly in jest, and it sounded pretty darned good!

I hyphenated and have a super long last name (5 syllables). I go by hislastname socially for the most part, and sign mostly as first letter of my last name-hislastname, or just as my initials.

I moved my maiden to my middle.. so it goes like this: first middle maiden lastname, basically two middle names with no hyphen just a space.

This kept my maiden name around (I’m from a family of all girls), but I’ll have the same name as our kids. I was super hesitant to give it up, but it wasn’t worth the battle.

I’m still on the fence. Don’t know if I’ll change my middle name to my maiden name or hyphenate it. But it will be a while before I change it, just too darn busy.

@MapleBecky:  I like that idea, no need to add the hyphen!

I hyphenated, and though now my last name is a mouthful, I don’t mind. And honestly, it made it easier when I switched everything over. We got a lot of checks on our wedding day, and a lot of people wrote them out either to Ms. Mymaidenname or Mrs. DHLastname. When I told my bank I hyphenated, they just took all of the checks and deposited them into my account. Also, I didn’t change a lot of my account names for a long time, which ended up being fine since I still kept that name…just added to it.
