Just got this in my inbox, I am very tempted to go adopt another pet.
Seattle humane is offering free pet adoption this weekend Oct 7-9. They are waiving the fee this weekend.

Ahhhh, I know we shouldn’t adopt another pet but I want to.
I’m sure they probably have a lot of pets that need new forever homes.
Also, please note this is not a thread where you can critcize free adoptions. I went through Seattle Humane when I adopted my dog and they were very thorough in their adoption process. They even have a clause in their contract that if you suddenly become unable to take care of the pet that you can return the pet back to the shelter.

Not that there’s anything wrong with this, but does this shelter cater to older pets? Most of the cats are very senor, and the dogs are a little older too. Just curious if its just the area (like people give up older pets or something?) or if they specialize in older animals.

@KristenGotMarried: It’s like that where I live too. Mainly because when younger pets come in they get adopted relatively quickly, and older pets are there for a lot longer and the amount adds up. Maybe that’s part of the reason they’re running the promotion? If they have a lot of older pets at the moment?
I wish I lived in Seattle, lol.

@KristenGotMarried: Yeah, I have seen older dogs and dogs with a health condition at this shelter. They have younger dogs, too. Yeah, that does make sense that there are proably a lot of older dogs that need a home.

I was at the Seattle shelter 2 days ago and adopted 2 kittens. They do have a whole lot of very nice older cats as well. They give the older cats a whole room with kitty condos to run around in. Darling Husband and I thought about waiting a week, but figured that the adoption fee would be a good donation to a great shelter. Plus we really wanted to get a pet (and ended up with 2).

Only if it’s a hedgehog. hehe I am soooo never doing cats again. We just aren’t set up for a dog right now, unfortunately. But I will share/pass this along. 🙂
