I always look forward to this time of year… and typically kick it off with either a big boil ( crawfish or shrimp… but won’t be doing that this year) and buying/making the first King Cake of the season!
My Darling Husband didn’t really like the idea of a Mardi Gras tree ( Christmas tree was taken down yesterday.. oh well). So I decided today that I was going to make a King Cake and put my mask out on display that I LOVE, just my little nod to a tradition I grew up with. My mom typically makes wassail (cider drink) throughout the season, so I will also be making that this year.
Any other Southerners ( or anyone else for that matter) who are starting off twelfth night?
Laissez les bons temps rouler, everyone!
If you do celebrate, what are your traditions? What do you look forward to? Are you a part of any Krewe?
