It might just be that their jewellers have less experience with moissy and feel less comfortable with it. In any case, it doesn’t seem like you *have* to send them two, so you could just go with one and then only send another if something happened. If they have the setting you like, it sounds like it could be a good option 🙂

Daisylovex3:  I don’t think that is true about it being brittle to set because I’ve spoken to several different jewellers about setting moissanite and none of them have ever mentioned this as an issue. James Allen asking you to send two gemstones is absurd and makes them sound totally incompetent…that would put me off buying from them because I’d assume they’re also incompetent about other issues with the setting, like the melee. But if you’re happy with their setting and their service policy (like, what do they offer if the melee is crap and constantly falling out?), go ahead and have them set your forever brilliant — but insure it first.

Regardless, whenever you’re having a loose stone set, always insure the stone first. Any gemstone can chip during setting, even with an experienced jeweler. I insured my loose moissanite with Perfect Circle before turning it over to be set.

As for finding the setting, have you tried emailing MoissaniteCo customer service? Sometimes they can get other settings that aren’t listed on their website, it’s worth sending them a photo of what you want just to ask. Then I second Amcor Design, the people there have made two settings for me and, although my rings were simpler than what you’re getting, I’ve been happy with their work.

Another alternative is to look for independent jewellrs in your area. Call around and ask if they work with moissanite. I found my jeweler this way and they are absolutely brilliant, they have hundreds of settings and offer fantastic customer service. I like having an actual shop locally I can trust to work on my ring.
