Does anyone have any suggestions for a location for an engagement photo shoot in northern NJ?
Indoors/outdoors – either is fine.
I’m just sort of lost for thought on this one!
If it’s outdoors, I’d really like there to be structures present – just in case it’s sunny out, and because we’re architecture people 🙂

I’ve heard Verona Park is nice. Or if you want something more structural, how about Hoboken?

I, admittedly, don’t know how far north you’re looking for, but I recently attended a wedding that did their photos at the gardens that are part of Rutgers main campus. Lots of beautiful plants, a few cute gazebos, and lots of different nooks and crannies with diverse atmospheres.
Also, if you’re willing to go a bit further south, the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton would make for AMAZING photos. Tons of massive outdoor sculpture, some of it figural, some of it abstract. Plus, the restaurant onsite is yummy!

@JrzyGurl: Verona Park is nice, but we’re getting married at a club on a lake, so I am also worried about having a giant lake thing going on (aaand also worried about falling in haha)
Hoboken! We thought about that, but I have no clue why my photograhper and fiance (they are friends) were laughing about it?? It’s a great idea, though – there is so much cool stuff out there!
@ArtDecoDC: I’ve actualy never been to the Rutgers gardens. New Brunswick? My sister went to Rutgers for her undergrad, maybe she know a bit more about them than I do.
Oh, man – I didn’t even realize that Grounds for Sculpture was so far away! I went there a couple times when I was a kid – so much fun. I guess I get it a little confused with Storm King now. If everyone is willing to travel, I think that could be a lovely spot for photos!

@CakeyP: We did ours in Hoboken – shots in the train station and out on the pier with city views.
This is the link to some of our shots:

Hoboken is great; but we had done ours near the water in Jersey City! It’s a little bit more secluded and nice. They came out great!
