What’s your budget and do you want it done onsite?

One of the cheapest alternatives would be to get your makeup done at MAC at a department store and get your hair done at a blow-out place, such as Dry Bar. This is what I did for my engagement photos and they turned out really well actually. If you go into MAC for a trial and you really like her/him, you can see if s/he is free on your date or if she can come into work that day. Dry Bar does both up and down ‘dos and can do straight/curl/whatever. MAC is $65 worth of product and Dry Bar is like $35 pre-tip.

As far as people that will drive to your location, the minimum I’ve seen for MUA with a great portfolio is about $275/$300 for hair + makeup and that’s without the cost of the trials/emergency kits.

@Mmversluys:

I am a freelance hair and makeup artist working in the Greater Los Angeles area. I can be on location doing hair and makeup wherever you want. I also specialize in airbrush makeup which is AMAZING for your wedding day. Super light, super flawless, and gorgeous!

Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂

I was in the same situation as you because everything I looked at was like $300-500 just for hair! A few weeks ago I got my hair cut by a girl in Manhattan Beach who i had bought a Groupon for and asked if she did weddings and she said yes! I’m getting my hair and makeup done by her for $150, including hair and make-up trial, and she’s coming to me! I had my hair trial last week and got lots of compliments on it and will be doing my makeup trial tomorrow. If you want her info, PM me and I can send it to you. She’s also doing my bridesmaids ($75/each) and bringing an assistant and will be w/me all day long to keep me looking fresh for pictures. I believe she may have a small travel fee, but for $150, I think it’s a steal!

You know, I did my make up and hair myself and saved a ton. My Darling Husband told me tha he wanted me to look like me on the day of our wedding so that made him happy.

But the lady who does my hair also does make up and she is really good. I love in Downey. PM me if you want her info. 🙂
