Check the local boards- there are some recommendations there. I bought my dress at La Reine in Waltham (other Bees have too), after shopping at Vows in Watertown. I stayed away from Newbury St.

@MissBoston: I could have said the exact same thing!

I started off at vows, and was impressed but not in love with anything.  Then my mom and I went to La Reine.  You get much more of a “bridal experience” at La Reine versus vows (vows is like the marshall’s of bridal salons).  I forget the name of my consultant but she was great and really picked up on what I was looking for quickly.  I think it was the 4th dress I tried on there that was “the one”.  I would recommend La Reine to anyone!

I bought my dress at Filene’s, but I looked at Vows. They were so helpful and lovely there, and their prices are very reasonable.

A friend of mine got her dress at Bella Sera in Danvers. All of us bridesmaids went with her and we had a really great experience. They were very accommodating even though we had a large party, and weren’t pushy at all.

I looked at Vows, but honestly wasn’t impressed — the gown selection was limited and the staff wasn’t particularly helpful to me.

It’s south of town, but Manhattan Bridals in Dedham is where I ordered my gown. The entire staff (but specifically Jackie) is fantastic: not pushy at all, very well-versed in their stock, and completely helpful. They also carry gowns of a, shall we say more reasonable budget.

I’ve never read a bad review of that place *crosses fingers* and I look forward to seeing them again when my gown comes in. Good luck!

Le Reines was great for us! Our consultant was Jennean (not sure if she’s still there), but she was wonderful! House of Brides in Woonsocket has a HUGE selection. It smells a little like an old lady, but truly does have a ton of dresses and designers. Allure in Westwood was fun too, but I actually ended up getting my dress at Pronuptia in Worcester- they were SO nice and ultimately gave me the best price on my dress.

Have fun!

The first thing i would do would to be look on line at some dresses. Then figure out what places carry those dresses.

La Sposa in newton was really nice. They didn’t have a whole lot but nice people. no sight sorry =(

Camilla’s Bridal in Arlington http://www.camillasbridal.com/ They had a  great selection and were very nice! I dropped  in on a Saturday with only a couple hours notice and the ladies were supper nice!

 Good luck!

I went to La Sposa this past weekend, and the first dress I tried on, everyone loved!  Of course, it was over my budget, but she said she would give me a discount.  I wasn’t sure on who made the dress, etc..since she doesn’t share any of that info.  After some investigating from my Maid/Matron of Honor, we found the designer!  It seems a little higher than the average price!

Confetti & Lace in Littleton: http://www.confettiandlacebridals.com/ They have a sample sale going on until Nov 13 (not advertised on their site; I received an email from the Knot). Kelley is a peach!

NY Lace in Taunton: http://www.nylace.com/  I dealt with Stephanie – very nice!

Pronuptia in Worcester: http://www.pronuptiabridals.com/  Ask for Janet – she’s very bold and fun to work with!  If you have no idea what works for you, Janet will find your dress based on personality and body type!

Good luck! 🙂
