The mother of my godson didn’t know she was pregnant until she was 28 weeks and went in for an abortion because she was told she was likely 12 weeks. She was also my room-mate at the time, and had her period for 5 months, and then took 2 negative pregnancy tests before she got a positive (which I personally saw each time.)
She now has a healthy, happy 8 year old but it definately came as a shock to us at the ages we were. The best form of birth control was being there through her 28 hours of labor.

OH and she was a big boned girl (think softball player) but was not fat by any stretch. She had gained under 10 lbs total up until that time, and then she started eating and gained 30 lbs before giving birth.

I worked with a girl who didn’t know until she was 5 month and had a ton of guilt about it:
She was 19 and a model, she had a runway show for NYC fashion week coming up and was hitting the gym really hard and eating very little since her hips are 2″ too wide per the designer. She was engaged and living with Fiance. She was not concerned w/ getting pregnant since she was underweight and didn’t get her period at this time. Days before the show she had really bad stomach pain, assumed it was because she was staring herself and kept telling herself ‘just a few more days.’ The pain was so bad she went to the ER where the doctor told her infront of her mom (her mom was not happy) that she was 5 months pregnant, but miscarring since she was so underweight the fetus had not developed.
She felt horrible guilt over this issue and stopped doing runway work after this. I totally believe her! For me if I sneeze wrong I POAS!

One of my aunt’s friends when I was little got pregnant and didn’t know it. She was 14 at the time and it’s actually a little more complicated than that. She knew at first, but then after ~3 months she started to have regular monthly bleeding and thought she’d miscarried. She gained a bit of weight with the pregnancy but never looked pregnant. She even spent a few weeks at a cottage with her family the month before the baby was born and not a single person suspected it. It was only when she went into labour that she realized that she was still pregnant. It was a dangerous pregnancy too because she had a negative blood type and the baby had a positive blood type. She’s since had another child though with her husband (she’s now 28), so I guess she got the needle in time after the baby came. Now that I think about it, I wonder if she ever felt any kicking and wondered what was going on.

My good friend’s sister had this happen a few months back. She was a larger woman, and had told she couldn’t have children (they had tried fertility treatment etc). Because she already had related medical conditions, she put any changes and odd feelings down to those. She hardly got periods anyway, so nothing seemed different.
My mother’s friend was still in the early stages of pregnancy, but found out she was pregnant because they thought she had signs of cancer because her hormone levels were soo off. Nope. Surprise triplets.

I know one who found out during labor and one who found out at 6 or 7 months. They had certain things in common: both are larger ladies who carried most of their weight in the abdomen already, and both have medical conditions that (a) make their periods irregular and (b) significantly reduce their fertility, i.e. both of them were told they’d probably never get pregnant, so they dismissed it as a possibility.

My cousin found out she was pregnant 2 weeks before she gave birth. She is a heavy girl and was told she would be unable to have children. Her legs kept swelling and were painful and she just didn’t feel well. She had numerous negative pregnancy tests including ones done at the hospital. She finally had an ultrasound and there was a baby. I asked her whether she felt any movement and she admitted she thought it was gas!!!

This thread scares the crap out of me. Women having regular bleeding along with negative pregnancy tests for months and months? WTF?

YES Y’all it’s real. I used to work in urgent care as a lab technician. A woman came in with extreme back pain, and went to the bathroom (our public lobby bathroom) while she was waiting. She had a baby ON THE FLOOR OF OUR PUBLIC LOBBY BATHROOM all by herself (she had locked the door when she went into the bathroom). It was unbelievable and I’ll never forget that. She had no. idea. at. all. that she was pregnant. She went to the bathroom to poop and a baby came out. I would never have believed it if i wasn’t there.
