I did. Make sure that you can put it on a DVD if you want to play it on a TV. I don’t think PPT lets you do that without some tech work. If you know how to do that, awesome, but I didn’t :). We had ours playing in the background during the reception so nobody had to watch it, but they could if they got tired of the scenery.

Yes.  And I’m regretting it.  Going through the pics was fun.  Scanning is tedious as hell.

If you have a PC, you should try using Windows Movie Maker. There are a ton of slideshow programs out there, but most of them cost money/have their name on them. Movie Maker is really easy to use, and you can burn them to a dvd and it will play just like a movie.

My SIL did it for me. It was great. I would delegate the task to someone else if i were you, i think it will be more enjoyable on your wedding day when some of the pictures come as a surprise!! 🙂

I’m doing my own, also using Windows Movie Maker. Scanning sucks, and it’s a tedious task, but it’s basically the ONLY DIY thing I’m doing, so I’m just sucking it up and getting over it. 🙂 When I see all the hard work so many other brides put into the details, and I only have ONE thing to worry about making, I figure just deal with it.

I’m not but my mom is. She puts together slide shows for weddings/birthdays on the side so she has tips/tricks. I will say everytime I’ve been around when the deadline was looming for one she definitely started to tear her hair out. Give yourself waaaaaay more time than you think you need.

We’ll make one to show as our guests are waiting to leave the ceremony (we have 300 guests or so on the list, so they may have to wait a bit before being ushered out). I plan to make my own as well, with music to go along with it. Any MacBees out there have recommendations on programs? I have both Windows and Mac capabilities on my MacBookPro, so I’m open to any and all suggestions.

@Melini: Thanks! I have used iMovie to create and edit our dance dvds in college, which should seem more daunting than a slide show, but for some reason this seems much more stressful to me.
