@kittyface:  When my hubby and I were planning our wedding we were considered the Outer Banks and Asheville. We decided on a mountain wedding, but I did look into some possiblities out there. I think it’s totally do-able to rent a house and have a ceremony at the outer banks as there are a lot of weekly rental options there! I also contacted the Sanderling resort (beautiful, but for the number of guests we had would have been too expensive for us)…the Sanderling does have elopement packages. You could also check out this website for ideas.

I got married May 1 in Myrtle Beach SC and the weather was perfect.  We were there the week before the wedding, and it was perfect leading up to the day too.  I will say, it’s really windy that time of year.  I lived there for about 2 years before we got married and noticed it each year.  But, other than that it was perfect.  We got married at a golf club, not right on the ocean.  But, the place we got married has an ocean club as well.  It is called Grand Dunes Ocean Club (we got married at the Members Club).  THe location was gorgeous, the staff was amazing, and they worked with us on price.

My daughter is getting married at Brunswick Plantation which is in Calabash, NC – just of HWY 17.  We live in the Raleigh area and have to do most of the coordination via email and phone, but it will be worth it.  It is awesome there.  http://www.brunswickplantation.com.    Ocean Isle Beach is an amazing place to have a wedding too, not too commercial like Myrtle Beach

Off season is when you’ll find the best rental rates, but it’s also popular wedding season. Sept/Oct are great. I live on the coast of NC, and my wedding is Sept.

If you want to get married literally on the coast, check out Isle of Palms in SC. IMO, it is the best beach in SC. There are also plenty of rental beachhouses there and on Folly beach
