We are not doing favors, but instead making a donation to 2 different charities. My fiance is in med school and we will be donating to research for 2 different causes. We are going to make cute little cards for each setting.
@gvsusara: love the notes you put at each seat! Did you make them or where did you have the done??

In lieu of favors we are making a donation as well! Our charity is something that means alot to us!
The times have changed! When I bartended for weddings, that was one thing I always noticed, that people leave behind favors!!

I’m doing very personalized favors that will not have our names or date on them. I’ve gotten a few beautiful boomarks for my readers, for the men I found cute tape measure keychains and am getting some candle holders for some of my candle lovers.

@chickeybarr: Actually, my florist recommended a friend who is a graphic designer. She did our invites, place cards, menus, table numbers, programs, etc. all custom so they matched. It looked great and she charged us a lot less b/c it is her side business.

@gvsusara: We also want to do a donation. How did you word the card at each place setting?

I’m doing them a “favor” by leaving the bar open longer!

We felt the same about the damn favors, but I am a very creative person and really wanted to do something to remind our guests of the unique outdoor country wedding we’re having. So I went with an eco-friendly favor that guests can use to appreciate nature and wildlife…I made birdseed favors in the shape of a heart and ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! (check the blogs on here about them; there are many that inspired me)…and best of all….it’s gonna cost me less than $0.30 each to make them! YIPPEE! Making 150 of them….ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!!

We probably won’t have any. We decided early on that we were going to choose one or two categories to focus on (i.e. photography, food), and everything else at the wedding will be done as simply/inexpensively as possible, while still having it look nice. I don’t expect anyone (myself included) to miss the favors, so I’m skipping them.
I can only remember the favor at one wedding I’ve been to, and that’s because it was cake (in a little cube box). That probably saved the couple money on their actual cake, so I can see a point there.

Just realized this thread is over a year old. Sorry!

@cherany: Don’t feel bad about it being a year old. I’m glad you brought it to the front. We’re not doing favors, but we’re having a photo booth that will print our name/date on each photo strip, so that is our favor.

I’m having a pretty tiny wedding (40-50 people), so I’m doing a pretty simple favour:
4 macarons in a box and a cute little card saying that a donation has been made in their name to Neuroscience research.
