We are not doing anything like that – just a normal ceremony!

Nope, we’re not doing any of them. For some reason… we just aren’t big fans.
We opted not to do either. My FI’s mother passed away 10 years ago, making the unity candle lighting awkward, and we didn’t like the sand ceremony (seemed too “thered” for the beach to us). SO instead, we’re just having a custom ceremony with a few cherry picked Jewish traditions (unity candles are traditionally a Christian thing anyways).
Everyone here (in Catholic ceremonies, anyway) does the candle thing, but without any maternal involvement, so I’m not sure what we’ll be missing there? Something anyway!
@spaganya, can you expain the Bell of Truce? I’ve never heard of it.
We’re also thinking about adding the Blessing of the Hands, but just as a reading, not an event, so to speak.
