We didn’t.  We got married on June 22, 2013, and we’re leaving for our honeymoon about a year later.

We did a cheap, relaxing mini-moon right after the wedding and a big, expensive, long distance honeymoon two months after the wedding. Best of both worlds!

@beetobee255:  We aren’t. We’ll probably have one around our first anniversary.

Wedding September 2014

Honeymoon June 2015

We want to take a backpacking trip to GReece and Italy and want it to be warm enough to go camping and to the beaches and the tides are a bit roudy in September so ferries get cancelled a lot. After the honeymoon we will be buying a house, hopefully.

We went on a short mini moon to the Catskills for about three days and then went on our honeymoon to Morocco and Paris almost a year later.  It was great, because we had a destination wedding in New Orleans (my family is from there).  Doing it later allowed us to save up more money, more vacation and feel more relaxed.  I would have been completely overwhelmed going on an international trip right after our wedding.

We got married in October 2013 and will be going on our honeymoon this July – I work at a school so it’s easier for me to go away in the summer!

@beetobee255:  We didn’t.  It just didn’t work out with DH’s schedule….and I’m glad we didnt.  One of our dogs had surgery 4 days before the wedding and I was DYING to get home and get him from the vet where he was being medically boarded.  We will plan a long vacation within a year or so when we have the time to take off as long as we want to!

@beetobee255:  We did a mini-moon in January (two nights in New Orleans) but we really consider our two week trip to Europe this December to be our real honeymoon.  We fly out a month after our first anniversary.  Smile

We don’t regret it at all.  It gave us more time to save up so we were able to add an extra week on so we could include Paris and Amsterdam instead of just a week in the UK.  Plus, after the wedding we were just exhausted from all of the work and stress.  It didn’t help that I woke up with a sinus infection two days after the wedding; that would have sucked had we been on our honeymoon!

We’re doing a mini-honeymoon right after the wedding (to travel somewhere that will legally marry us since we’re a same-sex couple and our state will not) and then we’re taking a big, three-week New Zealand honeymoon three months later.

@beetobee255:  we’re going to go on a small weekend trip after the wedding to relax, but our honeymoon won’t happen for several months after.

If you think you’ll regret it, take a minimoon trip right after your wedding while you plan a more elaborate honeymoon.

We didn’t.  We went on ours about 6 months later.  We were “on vacation” the week prior to our wedding so my husband didnt’ have any vacation time left nor did we have the money! I thought the advantage was we weren’t totally exhausted from our wedding and we had plenty of money saved up again to really enjoy ourselves.  However, I won’t lie, it didn’t totally feel honeymoon-like to me, but obviously I have nothing to compare it to! It might have felt exactly the same had we gone immediately (we also did more of an adventure-type trip rather than one geared towards romance, so that might be the reason).  I say there is nothing wrong with doing it and it does give you something else to look forward to, and it definitely is better than never going on one!

We got married OCt 2013 and had our honeymoon in January 2014. It was great – we had something to look forward to after the wedding was done and take a nice break from the cold and go somewhere warm. We also didnt have to rush anywhere after the wedding, we could save some cash again – highly recommend waiting.
