A couple months ago I decided it would be a good idea to switch our phone plan to T-Mobile from US Cellular because their prices had just gone up and I wanted a new phone. Someone told me recently that AT&T had actually bought T-mobile out, however. AT&T I’ve heard doesn’t get very good reception so I’m curious if any of you have any difference in your service and if I should give them a try?

@SweetRose2011: They’re in talks to buy T-Mobile. It hasn’t happened yet, as far as I know.

We have had AT&T for years and have perfectly good reception.

AT&T isn’t that bad. It hasn’t been good in the areas I have lived before but it is fine here.

I have t-mobile and there’s no change in price yet and AT&T has not taken over the t-mobile towers, etc. In fact, it won’t be a done deal for at least a year. But I think both have sucky coverage and I’m looking at verizon myself.

No changes that I’ve noticed so far. But AT&T has definitely acquired T-Mobile but are going to slowly transition all the stores/plans to the new system.
Here’s an article from a couple of months ago making the announcement.
