My e-ring was left to me by a surrogate grandmother in my life who never married or had hand children of her own. However she had a gorgeous cocktail ring that she got from a friend and passed on to me. I’m so proud to be wearing it as my engagement ring. I love that it has history, is vintage and is extremely unique!
However because the style of the ring, I’m not quite sure how I would wear a wedding band with it. The ring is kind of a wrap around, meaning the band is only connected by two “floating” diamonds. I’m not sure if that makes any sense. I’ll post a pic – haha.
Anyway, I’ve yet to see a wedding band that I think would work with this ring. Perhaps I could have one specially made. But I kind of like the idea of just wearing this ring and not having a wedding band at all. Does anyone else only have an e-ring?

Beautiful! I think I saw another bee at one point who had something of a similar style, and I remember she had a wedding band made for it. Maybe someone can find the pic, or search “custom wedding bands”
I think you could wear it as is, or have one made (but it might scratch the ring?). I wouldn’t want to get it soldered. Alternatively, get a wedding band to wear on your right hand that you can use as a dress down ring on days it is not practical to wear your e ring.
FYI, I have a rolling ring for my e ring, and I am not planning on getting another band so maybe I am just unusual in thinking you don’t need one.

i’m only wearing one ring as both my engagement ring and wedding band. I don’t think any other ring would complement it, and i love the look of it alone.

This thread had some info on custom rings. I tried to find the picture I referred to but no luck!
need custom band to fit around funky e-ring, ideas??

Thank you! I’m really thinking I’m just going to wear it alone, because like you said, i don’t really like the idea of having something added to it. I also think adding something to it might take away from the ring itself. I’m just glad I’m not the only one out there who won’t have a wedding band!

I also have an e-ring that looks fabulous on its own. The diamond is an heirloom from his family, the setting was my choosing. I haven’t found a band that works well with it yet, so I am definitely considering doing the “e-ring as a wedding band” thing.
-your ring already looks fabulous and you can keep showing it off
-you can use the money you’re not spending on a wedding band on another aspect of the wedding
-your FH can get you a nice ring for a future anniversary (he’ll thank you for giving him a go-to gift)

I know women who wear a band on their right hand because their wedding ring would look weird with a band. You could always do that, or just leave it be.

An old boss of mine had a ring that yours kind of reminds me of, it was only one diamond but had that wrap around style that made it impossible to match to the top or bottom. She had a wrap specially made for it, so it ended up looking like one wider ring. It was pretty but I think yours is so special that you wouldn’t want to take away from it. I see nothing wrong with having just the one ring if that’s what you want. If you really want a band, you could always wear that beauty on your right hand and have BOTH hands extra blingy ;0) Normally I’d say to ‘rock the gap’ but your ring is so pretty and unique it wouldn’t be fair to take away from that look!

I also wear my e-ring only!! It’s kind of a long story, but Darling Husband proposed with a plain solitaire that we always planned to have reset one day. I got a simple wedding band to ‘match’ the original e-ring, although it never fit right and the diamonds in the wedding band constantly rubbed against the ering prongs, making a groove in the metal. I had my diamond reset into a beautiful halo setting, but still no wedding band will sit flush with it and certainly my original wedding band doesn’t match – so now I just wear my ering alone. It’s definitely plenty of bling on my small finger so I don’t feel at all naked, but I”m sure I will get lots of questions like “when’s the wedding?” lol!

I only wear my e-ring as well. I actually wore my wedding band with it for a while, but recently decided that I hate the look of the two together! If I got a custom band to go with it, then I would wear that. I wear my wedding band on my right ring finger about 50% of the time. It’s a POC cubic zirconia ring anyways.

I think that with that style ring you would probably have to have something made custom to fit it if you wanted a wedding band. But thats totally up to you. I think the ring is beautiful on its own!

I took the ring to a jeweler to see what they could do, and he showed me a picture of a similar ring that he made a wrap for, and I hated it. It was so wide, and just really not my style.
I’ve decided that I’m going to wear the e-ring on my right hand and a wedding band on my left. I’d like to continue to pass the ring on to future children (if they want it) and I couldn’t do that if I had something added to it. In the end I just think its too pretty and unique and should be left alone.
Thanks for all your opinions! You guys were super helpful 🙂
