We are part of an organic one and it goes through the winter.  There’s a couple different options where we live and we found a really great one.  He grows a bunch of different fruits and veggies plus different varieties of the same veggie and you can often taste big differences between the varieties so it’s been a cool learning experience.  Plus, he must have great soil or something because you can just taste the difference between his and grocery store veggies and chickens.  We actually liked it so much we invested in his growing farm.  Plus I feel a little safer having organic veggies while I’m pregnant so there’s been lots of pluses for us.

My in-laws did, they actually paid for my Future Sister-In-Law and her husband’s portion.  They would get deliveries of local foods.  It was nice, but expensive and you never really knew what you were getting.

EDIT: For those reading that don’t know what a CSA is, it’s a community supported agriculture.  You buy a “share” of a local farm(s) and in turn, you get a portion of their produce.

Fiance and I would love to be a part of one.  We actually considered starting a CSA at our house, but I don’t think we have enough room right now.

Oooh we keep looking at local farms to sign up to but we haven’t had a time when it would have worked out well for us. Hopefully we’ll sign up in the spring, we’ll see. We have a friend though who’s just expanding his farm, so we’re ordering some beef from him 🙂  Until we finally sign up for the CSA I’ll have to be content shopping at the farmers markets in the summer.
