I have a Garmin Nuvi 200 which has been a great investment for me.  It’s probably not a model being made right now, as it is a few years old, and it was about $100.00 when I bought it, and then I bought a lifetime map update service from the Garmin website fro another $80.00, meaning I can update my maps for up to 4 times a year for the life of the product.

The only thing y Garmin doesn’t do, but I think some Tom Tom’s do DO is keep track of traffic jams in real-time, and route you around them.  Otherwise, a mid-to low cost Garmin or Tom Tom should do the trick with getting from Point A to B.  🙂

Pick a model you like, then look it up on Amazon, and read user reviews – that’s the best way to see if it has any probelms.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 265W, it’s $99 at Best Buy.  It does the job getting me where I need to go.

I have TomTom – it was $60 on Tiger Direct and you could probably find it for cheaper at this point. It gets me from Point A to Point B just fine. The only thing that bothers me is that it wont tell me what road Im turning on to. I dont think the Garmins do this either though. My TomTom was great but now my Droid phone has GPS on it so thats all I use.

I think I have the Nuvi 265W I got it last year for Christmas. It’s a pretty good one and I’m sure by now its less than $250 it might have been less than that when I got it. The reason I picked it is because it has traffic on it so you can steer clear off accidents. Now all the new ones should probably have traffic and have maybe newer maps than I have.

EDIT: Apparently it is the 265WT because it has traffic

I have a Garmin Nuvi ###WT (I don’t remember it’s number but I know it is a WT).  I’ve had it for close to 2 years now and its great!  It has traffic and can tell me delays (and if the delay is long enough that there is another shorter route, it will automatically route me around the delay).

If you want to compare models, just pull them up on Amazon.  They have a table on their listing that compares the features of most all of the Garmin GPS models so you can choose one based on what you need and want.

Just leaving another positive feedback about the Garmin Nuvi. I love it SO much. It tells me what street to turn onto and even what lane to be in before the exit.
