I have to take off my e-ring to get it resized πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ It’s just a little too big. The only time I see myself taking off my rings is if i’m working with meat (like making meatloaf or something). I don’t want to get raw meat stuck in it.

I’m also considering a fake (cheap) set for wearing at the gym. I was sure I’d do this (before I had my ring) but now I love my ring so much,  i don’t want to take it off. but I also don’t want to scratch it up on weight lifting equipment.

I always take my e-ring off to do the dishes, shower and put on hand lotion. I’d hate to loose it and I don’t want it to get gunked up… πŸ™

Will you take your ring off to have it cleaned? If you want to keep your e-ring on first that’s fine. I don’t think there is any HAVE TO, just MOST PEOPLE DO. πŸ™‚ It’s totally up to you. Your Fiance could slip your ering off while you hold hands before the vows. Hopefully he won’t drop it! LOL J/K

I hardly ever take my engagement ring off, and I imagine it will be the same with my wedding band. I take my e-ring off for two things: working with raw meat (ewwwww) and putting on lotion. And I’ve had it cleaned a few times, and sometimes drop it in cleaner over night. But, I usually always keep it on because I’m afraid to lose it, and because I like looking at it!

I take my e ring off when I go to the gym, shower, cook (esp if I’m handling meat  like Marquisemiss) also I don’t wear it when I sleep (the diamond is quite raised and I’ve scratched my face while sleeping with it) πŸ™

Once we get married and I have my band, I don’t see myself taking it off as often as my E ring πŸ™‚

I don’t plan on taking mine off frequently, but there are always circumstances that arise.  I used to wear a tanzanite ring which I pretty much never took off.  Well one day I was painting a fence with an oil based product so that my horse would stop chewing on the boards and totally stained the stone!  Fortunately it still looks good, it’s just a little more purple than it used to be, but it certainly taught me a lesson!  I have a feeling the diamond in my engagement and wedding rings wouldn’t fare as well.

If you have a plain band I think it could be done pretty easily, but if you have any sort of engravings or stones I think there are definitely times when you’d be better off removing it for a few minutes.

I just cant wait to have my W-Ring!!!! Just thinking about it give me the willies. I have to do a lot of research on mine and the misters wedding band. We want something to match and something that will just embody our feelings.

I’m going to be taking my e-ring off pretty soon to have it upgraded. πŸ™‚ I know I’m going to miss it terribly so I’m planning to get a temp ring to help me cope with the separation anxiety!

I think my wedding band will get much more wear than my e-ring since it’s flat enough to be worn even while sleeping. I’ll probably only remove it to put on lotion or for cleaning, etc.

I don’t wear my ring all that oftem.  No, its not that I don’t like, I love it, but I don’t wear jewlery all that much.  I don’t even wear earings. . I know so no a girl lol!  However I have been TRYING to get used to wearing it daily and only taking it off to sleep, shower that sort of stuff.

I don’t think it’s possible to NEVER take it off (ie medical procedures, manicures, meatloaf, showering and risking loosing it down the drain).  So I wear my band and ering everyday and just take it off if necessary and at night.

Because of changes in the weather, my e-ring fits much looser during the winter, so I take it off for sleeping, showering, cooking, cleaning, etc., mainly because I’m worried about it slipping off. So I imagine I will do the same for the wedding band. But in the summer they will fit fine, so I’ll probably wear them much more of the time.

I take mine off to put lotion or body oil on. Basically anything greasy that would dull the finish! Otherwise I’d just have to take it off to clean it! I don’t garden, but I do take it off when I do things like meatloaf or make meatballs or mush cookie dough with my fingers. Otherwise, ick! I’ve found dried clumps of lotion under my diamond before and it is NOT easy to clean off once it’s completely dried. I do sleep and shower in it though…if I took it off too much, I’m pretty sure I’d drop it in a vent or my cats would knock it into the sink, so when I do take it off, sometimes I hold it with my lips! Can’t forget it then!

I hope I’m not repeating here, but I didn’t have time to read every single post the gals have provided.

The only time I will take mine off, like most, is to shower, put on lotion, cook, or when I’m working outside.  I plan to have my rings soldered together (with the band closest to me) so the rings do not rub together and risk damaging the rings.  If you get a white gold 18k or 14k ring it is bad to not solder them together because you will rub the white gold off.  If you go with platinum I hear you still should solder them together though.  It’s a personal preference to solder or not to, but our jeweler highly recommened it due to the rings spinning and causing wear.  Also, it is very important to take your ring in to the jeweler and have it cleaned every six months so they can not only get it cleaned in every nook and cranny, but also to inspect the prongs, the center stone and everything else.  They will catch things that you won’t with the naked eye.

My Fiance and I are very active.  We play volleyball, coach and work out quite a bit.  I had planed on taking off my e-ring while playing v-ball, but at the mention of this he got flustered…so on it stays!

Hello! Brand new to the boards. πŸ™‚

I saw this and had to laugh because my best friend (and MOH) talk about this all the time because she absolutely NEVER takes off her e-ring or wedding band – however, I take my e-ring off to sleep, bathe, dishes, etc…I just don’t like the physical feel of jewelry on when I’m doing those activities. It’s not about the emotional aspect at all – I’m just not big on wearing jewelry.
