We’re planning on eating ours on our one month anniversary!! I’m not a big fan of eating something that’s been frozen for a year!!
Just a clarification for everyone grossed out….If you properly package and store it, it stays fresh and will taste just the same as the day it was made.
I guess I am just a sucker for tradition.
I don’t know but reading the responses brings back memories of my cake and I’m getting cravings and getting hungry. Too bad I can’t get a small cake from them because they are in another state. Will be back home in a few months, may have to get a 8 month anniversary cake. lol
I think this is such a cute tradition… but I am realllllly funny about eating older food, frozen or not! I think we’ll probably have some when we get back from the honeymoon, and that’s it 🙂
I’ve heard from some friends that the frozen cake is the best, but quite honestly, I’m thrilled our baker offered us a cake for our one year aniversary!
We’re not, our top layer was too big to save and we decided to just forget it and instead on our first anniversary we plan to buy some fresh cake and pretend, enjoy and celebrate. It’ll be yummier too.
Our cake it a 4 tier and we are going to box the top part and freeze it but not sure for how long, I love the idea of eating it on our 1 year anniversary but it might be disgusting
We would have done this, but my family ate it while we were on our honeymoon!
We saved ours and sealed with the Food Saver. We love the idea of eating our cake a year later.
Our bakery has this promotion where, if we provide them with a professional 5×7 of the cake (which my photographer said he’s do for free if he can put his company name on it), we get a free replica anniversary cake of our top layer. So excited for this. Hubby and I plan to go back to the hotel we were married in for our 1 year anniversary.
If we go with a traditional cake I’m going to try to get in the contract that they will make us a new cake for our anniversary instead of having to freeze it.
Haven’t thought about it until now, but probably not. The idea of eating year-old cake sounds unappetizing to me.
We are keeping ours. There is a special way of freezing it if you don’t have a food saver. But we do so, he will eat a piece for me and pretend to even like it. That’s the type of guy he is.
First of all, I never heard of the fact that people freeze their wedding cake. I saw it few weeks ago on facebook. This couple were eating their one year old cake.. I thought it was the grosses thing ever! Yack.. it might of tasted good.. but i would smell that thing million times and would “pretend that it stinks and taste weird”
So.. no we are not freezing our cake..
