Okay. I haven’t used photoshop in a while, I switched to Illustrator so bare with me while I try to walk through this mentally. You said you have the shape you want and the background, so we’ll go from there.

  1. Start a new file in the resolution and size you want. Save as “label” or whatever.
  2. Open your background file. Drag and drop the image into your background image into your new “label” file. This should create a layer in the “layers” menu on the side. You can stretch your background image to fit the canvas size by using ALT+T to transform it.
  3. Repeat the above with your shape. If you need to create the shape from scratch, there are shapes in the toolbar that you can manipulate and transform.
  4. Add text using the “T” looking button in the tool bar. Remember to create a new layer for it (it should automatically do this).

If you google search Adobe Photoshop tutorials you’ll find a lot, like this one. Also look on YouTube for tutorials, I’ve had great luck there when I was first learning Illustrator!

When you are done, make sure you save one version with all the layers, and then resave as a flattened (one layer) file. That way, you have the layers if you want to make a change, but the flattened file will save as a smaller file, and likely take less time to print.

Always save a layered file, though, just in case you want to change something!
