dracarys :  totally agree. I went through 3 upgrades before landing on my current ring, and most of it was from not knowing what I really wanted and not knowing a lot about diamonds. I wish I knew more back then so I could have got the ring I truly wanted from the start, but it has been a fun journey of custom rings and a fun experience for my husband and I (thankfully he is soooo supportive of whatever changes I want).

I don’t regret spending the money on a ring. I LOVE my ring and every time I look at it, I feel the same way, so it is a constant thing that makes me smile and that is worth it to me.

No regrets. I think I would of if he maxed out our budget (4K) but he was very, very smart in his choice and saved a ton of money in the process. I went through that thread & clutched my pearls several times. No judgement tho. Everyone has their own wants and will prioritize how they see fit.

Edit: I don’t plan on upgrading at all bc there’s sentimental value. It was created/certified the day my Fiance & I met in 2013. If I have my way I will wear this ring forever and ever. 😍

SoonMrsCrocker2 :  The cost of the original custom moissanite ering, plus the cost of the remake and upgrade for the moissanite cost as much as the champagne diamond yes.  Champagne [for whatever reason] is not a saught out color, it’s always going to be a less expensive option than say yellow, or pink.  so it was easy to pick it up second hand at a fraction of the cost I would have paid retail.

I regret rushing. There are SO many options out there that I wished I would’ve explored like pawn shops, antique stores, wholesalers etc…

my ring is being finished but I always have wondered if I could’ve ended up with a 1ct+ diamond instead of a Pink Sapphire for $7k (slightly above our budget).

I have a 1.5 ct solitaire and I love it.  It was/is well within our means and I don’t really miss the money that was spent on it – we’ve since bought and started updating a house and the ring is basically a drop in the bucket compared to that.

I don’t have it yet, but no, there will be no regrets. We are older and well established, we have no debt and solid retirement. We already have joint accounts.

For me, I had to find the amount that would get me what I wanted (at least 2 carats) vs. what I was comfortable wearing on my hand every day. We did a TON of research and took our time.

No regrets. If we were wealthier I would have spent more.

marriedalready69 :  I had a similar experience. I had a custom moissy ring made from etsy, thinking we could never afford a diamond. Then I grew disappointed with my ring because it had a very strong fisheye. Just as my hubby and I decided to bite the bullet and spend big money for a diamond, I fell in love with a beautiful ring in the first pawn shop we walked into. The diamond ring I now wear was only 75% the cost of the custom moissy ring. So my only regret is not realizing that jewelry store prices aren’t the only prices out there 🙂

I don’t know that regret is the right word, but if I had it to do over again, I would have voted to spend much less. And my ring was only about $1800. Now that I’ve had it for over a year, I realize that there’s quite a lot in the $500-$800 range that would have been perfectly fine.

No regrets here. My husband wanted to buy a bigger ring for me and could have afforded a much larger and fancier ring but I was adamant that he got me a solitare no bigger than 1ct. I’m fairly classic, I even considered wearing just a wedding band as I didn’t want to feel judged on my ring in our social circles but then I let him talk me around to a diamond as I do like a bit of sparkle! I wear it alllllll the time, and I do a lot of gardening. Apparently it’s very high quality (no idea what that means). I feel it’s very representative of who I am.
