It sounds to me like you know yourself and you’re clear about your reasons, so I say go for it. One note – I’ve heard that Xanax can have side effects that change your libido, so that would be something to be aware of during a trial run.

@worcesterbride , OH BOY!?! Would that be an increase in libido or a decrease?! I’m hoping for decrease–I would hate to take a xanax and have to leave the reception early!!!

@Dancy: I tooootally hear you on the Immodium thing! I take Xanax sometimes, it’s great; the only thing is that consuming alcohol after taking it can be tricky. I would advise you to stay away from booze, except maybe for a few sips of champagne. And definitely do a few test days!

My good friend took something before her wedding and said it was the best choice she made on her wedding day. She was calm and relaxed and able to focus on marrying her husband instead of obsessing about nerves.

Talk to your doctor. If you have problems with anxiety, he/she may prescribe you something. Different people react differently to medications, so this is definitely something you’re going to want to discuss. Also, be sure to steer clear of alcohol.
I was still able to laugh and experience emotions after taking a low dose of Ativan. I don’t know about other people, but this has been my experience, as someone who has suffered from anxiety.

@Blueshoes—I think people assume that you end up a drugged-out zombie like bride who can’t feel anything! From the dosages I have been trying, I am FAR from that image!!! Haha! Thanks for pointing that out.

I’m in the Ativan camp myself – don’t use it often but I’ll feel better knowing I have that sucker on hand in case I’m a hot mess! Everyone here has all the right ideas.. prescription, trial run, etc. Anxiety doesn’t have to ruin your day 🙂 Good luck! I’m also the nervous gal.. Ugh.. 150 people staring at me!! 🙂 We’ll be fine, though, I know I’ll be crying like crazy!

I Love being the center of attention so I am not really worried about that (WOW thats sounds so narcissistic but I don’t know how else to say it) but I am sure that me and my girls will have a drink in the limo before I walk down the aisle.
We are doing photos with the wedding party prior to the ceremony and so I was thinking that I will bring along some hard liquor to do a shot right before the ceremony with our families and wedding party. Great photog opportunity! LOL!
