I took a chance and bought a dress off ebay, and while it’s everything that was described and a gorgeous dress I don’t think it’s flattering to me and I believe would take a great deal of alterations (read “money”) to make it look right on me. I purchased the dress on ebay because of budget so this is a problem. On a whim I listed it on Recycled Bride today but I didn’t pay the extra money to get it listed on the front page so I really thought no one would even see it. Well hours later I get an e-mail that says nothing more than “I would like to purchase the dress” with contact info. Now I’m panicking because I jumped the gun, but also because it seems sketchy that someone would contact me so soon, considering you would need to search for the dress to see it. Has anyone listed a dress on one of these sites and had something similar happen? They asked no questions about the dress whatsoever, which I thought was odd but I did try to provide a thorough description.
This post has gotten really long, lol, but as I said I’m panicking now!

I haven’t gotten anything from them or sold anything, but if you offer your payment through paypal and use mail tracking at least you have some sort of security. I think I would be more nervous to buy than sell!

I did say in my post that I will accept paypal or escrow.com only. I’m just wondering if anyone else had an immediate response and it turned out to be a scam? I know it’s less likely on the selling end of things, but when a site says it takes an average of 70 days and I got an offer on the first day I’m shocked and skeptical.

I sold mine, I can’t remember if I ended up selling it because of my ad on oncewed or recycledbride, but it was one of the twi. Other than some obvious scammers, I had no problems, waiting for the money to arrive via paypal, then immediately shipped the dress out (made sure I paid a bit for insurance on the package!), sent the buyer the tracking number, and that was it! You’ll know if they’re a scammer because they will request to pay by cashier check and tell you someone else has to pick up or pay for the dress for them. If you’re firm about using paypal only, the scammers will get lost very quickly.

Doesn’t sound like a scam to me so far. I have contacted a couple sellers on recycledbride but neither of them responded to my inquiries. Maybe it was me! How I find listings? I search by size and then ‘most recently listed’!

Thanks! I will contact the buyer today- they just sent me the message last night. I did get the dress for a steal and I offered it for what I paid (plus shipping). I thought it would take time to even get a bite so I figured I should get it listed right away so I can continue my shopping.
