Thought it might be fun to hear where people have been stationed overseas! Where were you sent, what was the best/worst place you’ve been?
My husband is looking into becoming an attache, which would mean that we’d be stationed in the capital city of whatever country we were sent to. He seems to think we’d be sent somewhere like Azerbaijan but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for somewhere in Europe haha.
So where have you been? What was your favorite place? Any tips for survival in those countries?

With DH’s job, we’ll only ever be stateside (kinda bummed…oh well), but my BIL is in Japan right now! My sister’s gone to visit a few times and loves the culture there. If he wasn’t coming back to due to his rotation, she would have moved there with him.
She said the only downside is that it’s harder to make friends (she was there for 2 months with him) because there aren’t as many families, plus with the language barrier it can be challenging. But, she said it’s so nice, the food is amazing, and there is so much to do!

We’re stationed in Hawaii right now 🙂 Not officially out of the country, but we do get “hardship pay” for not being in the continental US, which is a nice perk of being here. I definitely can’t complain. The only downsides of Hawaii are the cost of living and how far we are from friends and family. We’ve been here a year and I haven’t been back to the “mainland” yet because it’s so expensive. I think everywhere we are after this will be a letdown. Although we’re hoping he gets sent to Germany next so we can explore Europe.

What branch is he? That will help decide where you could be. Neither Fiance or I have been stationed overseas yet but I lived in Cambride, England when my father was stationed there. Also, my parents lived in Greece, Spain and Japan and they’ve given me the dirt. I don’t know if you have kids by when we were almost put in Bahrain they flew military school sports teams all through Europe to play other bases and provided females with drivers. Depending on the base size its sometimes like you live in a small US city right in the middle of a forign country. This isn’t exactly abou Fiance and I, but I think you will have an amazing time ALMOST anywhere they send you, except maybe not Djibouti… Good luck!

We’re stationed in England and LOVE it! It’s the only overseas base we’ve been it so I guess it’s both our most and least favorite. lol

My best friend (my Maid/Matron of Honor, and I was hers) is currently stationed in Italy with her Darling Husband. This summer ends that placement and they are coming back to the States!
They’ve been in Italy for 3 years this summer – So we’re all very excited for them to be back in country 🙂 They won’t be in their home state (where I live), rather they’ll be like 12-15 hours away I think (driving time). But, they’re much closer! And I think they’ll have kids now (she wanted to wait to be back in the States) 🙂 YAY!
