- Wedding: November 2014 - Nazareth Hall
Once we get married we’ll have been engaged for just under 21 months. At first it seemed like it was going to take FOREVER but I’m realizing time is moving quickly. We have our venue and are waiting to get our engagement pictures back now but with both our jobs and buying a home I’m glad we have time because we should be in our house and settled before we have to start really planning anything which is nice!

By the time it is all said and done, we will have been engaged for 2 years and 1 month. The first year DRAGGED! It felt like FOREVER! But this year has flown by. I cannot believe we are only 4 and a half months out from the wedding! My advice is to enjoy it! This will be the only time in your life that you get to have a fiance! Have fun and it will absolutely come faster than you think it will :).

I’m in a two year engagement right now. It does seem SO far away but it is hard not to be super excited!! I’ve been researching venues and actually e-mailed a few. Some have said it is not uncommon for them to book up to 2 years in advance. Our wedding is June 2015 and I will be going on some tours near the end of this September.
I have also been researching photographers because it is VERY important to me and they are VERY expensive. I want to make sure we are getting a professional that is giving us good value for our money. We’ve decided on budget and made a very rough guest list just so I have an idea when looking at venues. 🙂
Hope this helps that I’ve been planning quite a bit! Fiance is stuggling with wedding talk sometimes because to him it seems REALLY far away but…. Oh well!

I’m sorry I wouldn’t consider anything under 3 years a long engagement you should be grateful that you don’t have that long to wait. You should step into my shoes I have to wait 5 years. Stop stressing out and try to enjoy your planning and look forward to your wedding just count your blessings 🙂
Sorry if this sounds rude but anyone saying that under 3 years is a long engagement needs a slap in the face as they are not thinking of people having to wait longer and their worries of things going wrong, watching people getting married and having kids before you etc

I see that this is an old post but I also went through this. My DH and I had about a two year engagement. We were 8 days out of our engagement anniversary when we tied the knot. I was also excited and wanted to get to planning. Days leading up to the wedding I wished I would have done something more simple. Either way I had fun and loved our wedding!

I know you weren’t trying to be rude but some people may take offense by what you just said. I took it the wrong way because I do think that having a 2 year engagement is way too long. Yes things happen and sometimes you just can’t get married when you want. I dated my DH for 10 years before we tied the knot. So yes, having a two year engagement was super annoying and it seemed for ever. Good luck on your 5 year engagement!
