Anyone take clomid when you already ovulate?

Yes, I took Clomid (100 mg) when I was already ovulating on my own and had regular cycles. I took it for 3 cycles in conjunction with IUI (and an HCG trigger shot to get the eggs to release all at the same time).

For me, instead of ovulating a single egg each cycle, I had 2-4 eggs release each cycle (3 the first time, 3-4 the second and 2-3 eggs the third time, according to my clinic). Simply put, more eggs each month meant more “attempts” at conceiving that cycle.

It worked the third time around — and luckily, it’s just one baby! Currently 22 weeks with a boy.

Good luck, bee!

starfish0116 :  My HSG was barely anything at all! When it was over, I was like, “You’re DONE???” because yes, I’d read a lot of horror stories too. It was definitely 100 times less painful than just a regular period… more like a LITTLE discomfort for about 30 seconds.

I know that for some people, it really is painful, but that doesn’t mean it necessarily will be for you. Good luck if and when you decide to do it!

zoey0317 :  I am 34 weeks pregnant with boy girl twins from 100mg Clomid, trigger shot, and IUI.  🙂  I had three follicles so they warned me that triplets could happen.

We had unexplained infertility because all of our other tests were okay.

I also had an HSG and it wasn’t bad at all so I’d highly recommend anyone struggling with infertility to have it done.  Mine uncovered a septum in my uterus which I had corrected and thankfully so because I wouldn’t be able to carry my twins if it were still present.

zoey0317 :  Yes ma’am.  I don’t really have a reason why I struggled getting pregnant.

starfish0116 :  I was terrified to get an HSG done. I like you read online about how painful it was that I kinda had a panic attack day of test. I stared sweating and a nurse put a cool towel on my head. Turns out it didnt hurt hardly at all. Just felt like pms cramps. But not even as bad as my usual ones. Worst part was psychological, but it was over super quick! Good luck!!

They had me on ovidrel and clomid for 3 rounds for “timing.” Honestly I think it was just to make money on the ultrasounds – I knew my cycles like clockwork. It didn’t work for us. They did the HSG prior to that. It was not pleasant for me.  It was really freaking painful, but luckily over relatively quickly. However, it was so painful they couldn’t get a result from one tube — my body may have been tensing up due to the pain, or I may have had a blocked tube. We just gave up with interventions after that because the next step would have been surgery just to look around, and then $$$$$ after that and we had already spent a ton of money on the useless 3 rounds for timing.
