@dreamocracy:  My understanding is that macrobid can cause high bilirubin levels (severe jaundice) in a small proportion of newborns that have an inborn genetic G6PD deficiency.  You can always tell your doctor to prescribe something else for the last few weeks of pregnancy. Macrobid is the drug of choice during pregnancy, but generally not beyond 37 weeks (for the reason above, although it’s a small risk)

@dreamocracy:  I did from about 16 weeks until I delievered. That was because I was in the hospital with a kidney infection. Kidney infections cause preterm labor.

My daughter turned out perfectly healthy and I discontinued taking it as soon as she was born and I did not have any further UTI’s.

All medicine comes with certain risk and benefit during pregnancy, but having a perfectly healthy baby at 40 weeks was worth it to me.

Try not to worry!
