I’ve had absolutely horrible acid reflux since about 20 weeks and tums and otc medicine has done as much as it can do. I’m starting to get desperate for another solution. My doctor has prescribed me Reglan but I’ve been hestitant to take it. I am always a little wary of new medications because I’m always a little afraid of side effects. If you have been prescribed this as well, can you tell me how it worked for you?

I’ve never heard of taking reglan for acid reflux (which isn’t saying much). I take it sometimes because I have mild gastroparesis. Reglan does have some serious side effects, but if you take it for a short period of time and you are young, you should be ok.

I had to take this after my car accident almost a decade ago, for nausea (because I wasn’t eating). I had a serious reaction– a quickly spreading rash that started on my torso and spread over my whole body and itched so badly I removed the cast on my arm to try to relieve the itching.
That said, I know it is often prescribed and not too many people react to it. All you can do is try it and see. Good luck!
