I like the idea of wearing one dress for the ceremony and reception since it’s better on my wallet and I get to maximize the value of my dress. BUT I’m also a klutz and can totally see myself spilling food all over my WHITE dress, haha. I’m on a budget but I’m thinking of getting a second inexpensive, darker-coloured dress for the reception so I don’t have to worry.
Anyone else share my fear/concern? What did you do or will you do for your wedding?

I was more worried about my mouth being purple from red wine (my usual drink of choice). If you’re worried, you could carry around some shout wipes in case you spill something, but I think you’ll be fine.

Shout wipes, TIde to go whatever… But bottom line it is your day so who cares…. A successful party can mean leaving a mess and you only wear it once anyways… Love the moment and as the mantra goes: Don’t sweat the small stuff

or just drink white wine 🙂 But I am going to get as much wear out of the most expensive dress of my life as possible! but if someone else spills on me, they better run! 🙂

OMG YES!!!!! I told this to my Fiance and his response was…you’ll be ok…..LOL…love the sympathy.

Lots of cool options here if you don’t mind them!

@xokaleneox: I would flip out if anyone spills anything on me! or if some child with grubby hands touches my dress… :S
@furtureffcaptwife: HAHA!! When I told my Fiance, he laughed and said “yeah, you definitely will!” So supportive lol.

Yes, I’m kind of worried. But….unless I think I can actually resell a knock-off or cheapo dress will it really matter if it gets stained, I mean, it’s definitely something to avoid and I’ll make sure I have club soda and wipes or tide pens or something on hand. I think it depends on whether you are planning to hand-down or sell the dress, if not I’d do my best to keep it clean and rock that dress all night long.

I was concerned about this also. It’s one of the reaons I only had a few bites of our incredibly declicious hors d’oeuvres when I was upstairs in the bride’s room after the ceremony. I couldn’t imagine what would happen if I spilled something on my gorgeous gown.

I am a “spiller”. If I can go a meal without spilling something on myself, it’s rare. I am just a klutz. My Dirty Delete also inherited this trait. Needless to say, we are much happier in our new home that has hardwood floors instead of carpets.

I’ve banned red wine from the limo for this very reason!!! The BM’s are all wearing white too, so double whamy there. Though after the formal pics, the red wine ban shall be lifted lol.
It’s like my only bridezilla request 😛

@nerdherder: I was worried about this too, but was very careful on the day as you’ll be, so I think you’ll be fine

I’m a neat eater so I’m not worried about me. I’m more concerned about the guests accidentally nailing me with something! This is partially why I didn’t do a chocolate fountain.

I wasn’t…until I read this post. lol

I wasn’t worried until reading this post and now I am 100% certain I will stain my dress because there is pretty much no day that goes by that I don’t spill or drop something down me, especially when I am desperately trying not to. I think the gravitational pull around me is particularly strong.
