I went to the girly doctor today (gyno) and told her how it’s so frustrating trying to find a time to take my pill every day as my schedule is so all over the place. I have to worry if I took it in my sleep as I’m currently taking it at 4:30 AM (sooo annoying).
She said she’s going to order me some samples to try the patch. I’m willing to try it and a little excited to try something different but worried that the site will be a little itchy.
Anyone tried them? Pros/cons?

It’s HELLA itchy. haha you’ll find that you’re constantly scratching the skin around it.. also in canada they sort of put an “almost” ban on it. most gynos don’t recommend it because of the side effects. And the fact that usually most people don’t really get the side affects but with the patch you definitely will experience something.. Its all up to personal preference. I can’t remember what they exactly said on our city news television years ago but whatever it was made me go see my gyno the next day to switch to something else. I’m on the Nuva Ring right now. It works like the patch where you don’t have to remember to take it every day. The major difference is that its a rubber-ish ring that you insert into your vagina and it stays in there for 3 weeks and the 4th week your suppose to take it out for your period and then repeat with a new ring. You also can skip your period by just inserting a new ring on the 4th week. (sorry if thats too much info)

I hated it. It never stayed stuck!

I liked the patch overall. My OBGYN says he doesn’t prescribe it anymore because it is such a high dose of estrogen. The patch made me feel sick to my stomach the first day and my skin got irritated from having the patch (which would fall off sometimes). I would suggest the ring, a lot of people like it (I didn’t so much!).

I am on the patch.
I have been on it for over a year.
I have to agree that it does itch sometimes. I have had it fall off a couple of times. Sometimes it irritates my skin and i actually have a scar on my stomach from it (that is also because I scratch at it sometimes).
I am large, so I wear it on my stomach. I hated it on my back because it itched so bad. I never wear it on my butt because it just feels weird. I tried it on my arm and actually liked it until one day FI’s brother asked him if I used to smoke lol.
I like the patch mostly for the convienience. I NEVER remember to take pills.

I was on the patch for a couple of years and I loved it. I didn’t really experience any side effects. It was great because you would only need to remember to change it once a week, and it would remain on until you removed it, even through bathing, swimming or even perspiring from a workout. Only a few drawbacks for me:
– the edges would always curl up and I’d get gross lint/fuzz/stuff stuck to it. This was unavoidable for me
– i wore it on my back and if anyone ever saw it, i’d have to explain what it was
– at times it would get itchy
Overall it was mostly a positive experience for me and I personally recommend the patch.

I used the patch a while back and at first I thought it was great! It did stay stuck on until I pulled it off, except I would get a couple curled up edges and I only had to think about it once a week… then Boom, I got pregnant! needless to say I have refused to use the patch every since.

I’m on the patch and I absolutely love it. I used to take the pill, and would often forget. I have been on the patch over a year and a half. I know there is some question right now about the saftey of the high levels of estrogen used in the patch, but this is only a concern if you are over 35 or smoke (which you should not be on the pill either at that point).
I put mine on my buttcheek. It is hidden and stays on fairly well.
There are some drawbacks.
1. The edges curl up sometimes and I get fuzzies in the adhesive from my pants/ panties. It is more just annoying than anything.
2. You have to kinda play around with placement at first. When I first started the patch I tried a couple places and had trouble with it falling off. I tried my hip, back, etc. Butt seemed to work the best.
I never had problems with it itching at all. That might be a side effect from the adhesive on some people ?

I tried to patch and it lasted for less than a month. It made me really sick (dizziness, vomiting, nausea, headaches) to the point of being miserable so I ended up ripping it off and never tried it again!!

I hated the patch. About the only place you can put it where it won’t be seen is on your butt and it seemed like pants always made the corners of it come up. I’m also wary of the higher hormone levels in it than the pill.
I like Nuvaring wayy better.

I hated it. I was actually allergic to the glue they use but didn’t realize it for weeks because of everyone else saying it itches them too. I had a rash from my upper thigh to my lower back because of it although that was a pretty extreme reaction, I admit.
Besides the allergy, it itches. And the edges pull away and get all fuzzy and gross. No matter what I was always left with those dirty black outline marks.
