I haven’t got an answer to your specific question really. However, I was advised against the injection and was recommend the pill due to lessened side effects. I take two every night with no breaks. This shrinks the Endo and stops abnormal bleeding. It has helped slightly. So there is another option. Sorry i couldn’t answer about the injection.

I did 6 months of Lupron injections, I started right after I had surgery to remove as much endo as they could. In all honesty, it wasn’t the highlight on my life but it was ok. I stopped having my period and I did have some menopausal type symptoms such as being very emotional and also hot flashes. My period came back a few months after the injections stopped. Before doing the lupron I had 3 surgeries for my endo, after the lupron I was able to go 7 years without surgery. It turned the volume down on my endo pain a great deal and I have no regrets. I had minimal pain for a very long time, so that alone made it worth it to me. Ultimately I ended up having a complete hysterectomy last year because my symptoms came back and were very severe. Feel free to ask me any questions!

I did 6 months of lupron shots back in 2005 following fibroid surgery. My GYN discovered the endometriosis during the surgery. The side effects are like a false menopause and I was given extra calcium during those 6 months. The hot flashes suck and your period ceases for the duration of the treatment. After I stopped receiving the shots I went in Seasonique birth control pills because they limit for period to every 3 months. The endometriosis hasn’t returned since then. Hope this helps.

I have had both.  I did the Lupron injections for 6 months and had the IUD for a few years.  I did not tolerate the shot AT ALL.  I would start with the IUD.  This was the only one that gave me any relief after I stopped.  With the shot it was just as bad after as before.
