Your budget is your budget. Photography isn’t worth going into debt over. The important thing is that you understand that not hiring a professional is a gamble. If photos are important to you it’s like taking your last $10 bill to the slots. Odds are you’re not going to double your earnings, but every now and again there are people who get lucky with this. It’s just not the norm.

My friend took our photos. He’s a really talented freelance photographer who had never done a wedding (or engagement session) prior to ours. I’m in love with everything he’s sent us so far for our wedding as well as the e-pics he took last year. As a bonus, the price was perfect since he doesn’t do it full-time.

Here are a few of my favorites from the preview he sent us (mostly getting ready shots). He’s still working on the full color versions as well as the photos from our ceremony and dinner.

All photos copyright Ryan Maxwell Photography.

You can see more photos in the recap I posted. He also got some great candid shots of my nieces and nephews. I can’t wait to see the rest 🙂

@yayimengaged:  Ryan is based in DC if you wanted to check him out. You can view examples of his broad range via his Instagram account, Flicker page or on Cargo Collective. If you have any questions, you can also feel free to PM me.
