I’m kind of liking the idea of a vacation home instead of a hotel but I’m not exactly sure how it works and how safe it is. I found a place and it has great reviews but I’m not sure how reliable that is. Anyone ever use them? Care to share your experience?

We used it to find an apartment to stay in while we were in Paris. I found that the homeowners were generally quick to respond and were good with communication. I liked how there were ample pictures allowed on the postings and how they have a calendar of their bookings so that we could quickly tell if the apartment was available. I would use a site like homeaway or vrbo again in the future for vacation rentals!

I used it a few years ago to find a beach house and had a great experience. We were all under 25 and couldn’t rent through a company, plus we were a ‘college group’ (only 4 people though). The owners I talked to were all quick to respond and very friendly.
I looked at it when renting this time around for our honeymoon, but now that Fiance is 25, we were able to go through a normal company.

We’ve used them several times with no problems. Read the reviews carefully first and follow up with the owner if you have any questions.

I used homeaway to find a place for our wedding/minimoon. I contacted a number of lakehouses and asked if I could have a small (15 guest) wedding. Only one person got back to me and said it was fine. She even let me stop by and take photos!
