I used to be a makeup junkie but have since tossed stuff I never use and as I’m getting older and making more money, I want to invest in less products but quality stuff I’ll actually use everyday. I used Clinique and Lancome on and off, mostly cause the gifts were too goo to pass up. My bosses wife and a co-worker use Laura Mercier. I met with a consultant once and bought the eyecream and lipgloss to keep the cost down but did like the other things she used. Then I hear good things about Chanel, I own just their bronzer but think its great.
I’m thinking of getting myself foundation, primer and lipstick to try out before the wedding. I could go meet the with consultants again but since I already did I’d like to have anyone tell me about their experiences with these lines, which can steer me in the right direction hopefully!

i use laura mercier pressed powder and tinted moisturizer. i like it very much, when paired together, the coverage is good and it doesnt clog my pores.

I use Laura Mercier for foundation, it is okay. I like their lipstain more than anything. I am more of an Estee Lauder user for make up wise.

I love Laura Mercier foundation and primer. I don’t think their lipsticks last. For lipstick, I use MAC or NARS. For everything else I use Bobby Brown – fabulous!!

I wear Chanel’s Inimitable Multi-Dimensional mascara and it is unbelievably awesome. My eyelashes look SO long. I also use their four eye shadow compact. Great colors that blend together. And a couple lip glosses that I love. But…that said I don’t use their foundation or primer…because I don’t use foundation or primer for every day hah.

I use the Laura Mercier tinted foundation in the summer because I like how lightweight it is and I use the secret camouflage concealer throughout the year. I like that it has two shades I can blend to match my skin tone as I get more sun. I’ve never used Chanel products regularly.

For the gals using the Laura foundation, how is the lasting power/coverage on it and do you apply with a brush or sponge?
@nauticalbride: What colors are in the chanel pallete?
For everyone else that listed lipstick from any brand: Any good neutral shades you use that would be good on a bride? I can pretty much pull anything off.

I love the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. It’s really lightweight (I can’t stand heavy foundation/powder- my face needs to breathe). I apply it in the morning with my fingertips and it lasts all day.

I use both brands. Right now my foundation is ‘forever’ by Dior (which is amazing and great for staying put), but during the summer I use LM tinted moisturizer which I think is the best stuff out there. I also use her concealer and lip gloss.
I haven’t tried a lot of Chanel products, but I used to have a lipstick and nail polish I really liked. I feel like Chanel is actually more expensive than LM and Dior so I usually just walk right by it.
All my other makeup is Bobbi Brown, my eye shadows, blush, bronzer, etc. I also have a couple of random Lancome items like eye liner and lip gloss.

I used to sell Chanel makeup and skin care but I use the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and for foundation, I would suggest the Chanel Teint Innocence. It’s light but it covers without looking foundation-y. The Chanel eyeshadows come in quads and duos mostly. One of the best quads is Dunes, which I use every day (I’ve seen some actresses mention that they use it too:) It’s got a really good charcoal-y brown, a beige, a peachy sheen and taupe sheen. The combo is sooo pretty. There are lots more though. Check them out and have fun!

Can I just tell you how much I HATE Laura Mercier foundation primer (oil free)? It made my face slimmy and oily. I have dry to normal skin and it was disgusting. My make up was actually sliding off my face instead of staying in place.
I would never use that for my wedding day. I like bare minerals prime time and Too Faced Primed and Poreless for primers.

I think Chanel is amazing. I have tried so many different brands, but their Mat Lumiere Foundation is the best foundation ever ( besides Lancome), it is very smooth and long lasting and it makes me feel like i don’t wear anything at all. I used Clinique foundation before and even though it’s good it can’t compete with Chanel at all. The Inimitable Mascara is also quite nice but sometimes it’s a bit smudgy. The best product i ever tried in my whole life was their Precision Ultra Correction Eye cream, it is AWESOME!

Wow ladies, so many great tips!
I’m interested in this tinted moisturizer I’ve been hearing about. Is this the kind that is one color but blends to each’s skin tone? I’ve never tried any Bobbi Brown. Walking into Sephora can be dangerous for me!
I also forgot to say that I have the Laura secret concealer too in #2 which has been good so far, easy to spread but I think the Lancome Maquicomplete* had better coverage. I’ll use the Laura til the end though since its fairly new.
@2ndtime and @Usuki: Those Chanel foundations sound like 2 great reccomendations. Do you recommend a powder on top, if so which ones?
