I got pregnant with my third child that way WHILE breastfeeding! I would not recommend. At least combine with use of a spermicide!

I used it effectively for over three years as well. i had no issues, most ppl who do have problems dont “pull out” in time (from my experience). its tricky and very risky and I would never advocate for it, but I admit, I do love it. I got on the pill about a year and a half ago cus I had a scare (my period has always been irregular but I got paranoid lol) however Ive never actually gotten pregnant using the pull out method.

ETA: not using condoms with my BC, we’re still just pulling out.

We pulled out before I was on birth control AND used condoms, but now that I’m on BC it’s that + condoms. We are definitely not in a position to have a child right now (I’m still in full time grad school with an assistantship) so we have always doubled up on birth control methods without issue.

We used it effectively for 10 years and never had an oopsie-baby. I didn’t do well on the pill as it gave me vicious migraines, no matter which one I tried.  Needless to say, we started dating when my husband was 24, not 18. I was 25. I don’t know how effective this would be for an 18 year old, for example, who doesn’t know their own body as well.

We got pregnant in our first month of trying.

DH and I used it our first year of dating as our only method most of the time (young and stupid, I know!). Sometimes I worry we will have issues TTC bc we probably should have accidentally gotten pregnant back then and never did!  So I’m glad to see a decent amount of people who this was successful for!

We recently went back to it after 6 years on BC during FW as I’ve been charting, but if we had an “oops” we’d be thrilled too.

RedWine13:  We thought we’d have problems conceiving just because I had never been pregnant in 10 years.  Not that I’m advocating it by any means, but in the last couple years, he only pulled out around my fertile window because we were okay with having a baby at that point in out lives. We were pretty surprised that we were successful in our first month!

I’ve been with my Fiance for 7 years. We are each other’s first and only. We’ve never been pregnant. We used condoms in the beginning but hated the feeling.

I can’t physically swallow pills so birth control for a large portion of our relationship (I know there have been more modern methods created recently) wasn’t even an option. My throat just locks up and I just can’t do it.

We’ve been using the pull out method for 3 years, with no problems. Probably wasn’t a smart choice since we started that in our teenage years and definitely weren’t ready for kids, but I have full trust in his ability to control himself. I think the effectiveness really depends on the man.

Fi and i mainly use pulling out with a bit of charting thrown in. I was on the pill the first cpl of years of our relationship, but turns out im allergic to it, was constantly sick and headaches and made my period awful. Im also allergic to condoms so we sort of just fell into this method. Its been a year and no oopsies, though i should also add i have pcos too so our chances of naturally conceiving are already lowered. We wouldnt mind getting pregnant now anyway, though would prefer to after the wedding. I would take other methods if an oopsie baby wasnt an option for us right now.

Used condoms + pulled out. I got pregnant anyway because the condom broke. If you’re very fertile all it takes is one tiny little sperm. I miscarried though.

I think the reason I got pregnant with pull-out is that my ex husband had a LOT of pre-ejaculate fluid. My current SO has ZERO. With my ex, it would almost continuously come out. Too Much Information. Ick… And I am super fertile as both of my pregnancies were the result of one isolated time, even though we were married.
