I am trying to decide if I should use a clear top tent or not. My reception starts at 9pm and it is in the middle of a forest on the 1rst of August.
I would like to use a clear top to keep the feel of the forest. If it wasn’t too risky I wouldn’t even have a tent. The beautiful scenery is why we picked the location so I would like to make the most of it. I would think if we put flood lights shining up into the surrounding trees it would be really nice. I’ve attached a pic of the tent location.
However, I’ve been told that it can get really hot under a clear top. Our reception is after sunset but it is also in August and the tent would have been sitting in the sun all day collecting heat. My rental person says it might be hot but they have big fans I could rent to cool it down.
Does anyone have experience with a clear top tent at night that they could share?

We’re going tent free on July 18th. It just doesn’t rain at that time of the year where we’ll be… so I’m not too nervous about it. But where our wedding is, a number of people rent the clear type tent and it is totally great.
Let me see if I can pull you some photos:

I bet if the sun has already gone down by that point then it shouldn’t be too bad. Besides, if you’re surrounded by tall trees, they should provide enough shade once the sun gets low enough in the sky (by like 5, maybe?) that it should be cool enough inside the tent once 9 pm rolls around.
Plus, if you aren’t dancing right off the bat, you’ll have a chance for it to cool down even more before you start heating things up again!
But to be on the safe side, have lots of water around to keep people nice and hydrated!

We had a clear top tent at our annual Gala last year in June. EXTREMELY HOT!!! It was better in the evening, but while setting up during the day and throughout the first part of the presentation, I thought I was going to melt! If you do have a clear top, be sure to put in AC venting through the sides of the tents (and heat for later if it gets cold)

This is an old thread but I’d love to see if anyone has anything else to say about it?
@sarahdtn: how did it turn out? did you go with the clear top? Did everyone melt?

@sarahdtn: Your reception site was gorgeous! Is this an area that would be available for rent?
