I know this thread is dead .. but I hope that if someone runs accross it in the future this might help… I loved Ieie bridal.. wendy is so sweet and just freaking awesome.. I took forever with changes and details and messurments throughout the process and anyone else probably would have lost their hair over it.. but in the end she made the dress with all the changes I wanted inspired from my anne barge post above.. and I love the way it turned out.. in the picture the dress is a bit long and lose on the manikin because I am 6’1 and bigger than the manikin lol but you can get the jest.. when I wear the dress or have my bridals done I will post more pictures  :).. It is wonderful quality.. I was able to change the fabric from the origional dress to a fabric I liked more and is more comfortable.. so in my opinion this dress that I paid a 12th of the price for is way better than the origional I tried on in the store. $6000 on a dress is not worth it when you have descovered Ieie bridal! okay here it is! if you have anymore questions I try to check this thread every so months so post and I will eventually see it lol

@jennysphotos:

I am so glad you wrote in.  I was actually contemplating using her but was not sure.  Were you able to meet with her or did you communicate with her by email.

@Pat22us:

I also got my dress from Wendy at Ieie.  I wanted a replica of Jim Hjelm Blush 1057:

Here is my dress:

You can see more pictures here: http://moscaphoto.blogspot.com/2011/09/diy-wedding-day-near-mt-st-helens-wa.html

OVERALL:  YES, I spent more with Wendy than I would have with Jeff Lui, and any of the other Chinese dress makers.  I had tried on the dress in a boutique, and really, the thing I loved most about the dress was the heavy cotton lace.  Upon really drilling the Chinese dress makers, including Jeff, about whether I could get that, they all said no.  Wendy took the time to send me pictures of different lace, and assured me that it was the heavy cotton I was looking for.

It took about 3 months to get my dress, and honestly, it fit great.  I did get it altered before the wedding, but the cost was minimal, and overall, the cost of my dress was still very inexpensive.  I paid $425 for the dress from Wendy (including shipping), and then $75 later to get it bustled and have the bust taken in a little, as well as the bottom hemmed straight (it was a little crooked, but again…it was $400).  I’m really happy about the dress and my experience with Wendy.

I know when I was looking for advice, it was really hard to make a decision on who to trust to make my dress–it’s really stressful!  So, if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them:)

Thanks so much for this post!  I first heard of Wendy two years ago on Etsy and I fell in love with one of her gowns. The fact that she is so affordable and open to design is a godsend for a budget bride.

 I was hoping to find a review on here and this was perfect.  I want a black and white dress so that Anne Barge replica was all the proof I needed that she could pull it off. I’m so excited to email her now.

I Did all of my communication through email.. But she was very very responsive! I had a death in the family that postponed me giving my messurements she was so patient and very responsive she also sent countless emails with lace options for me to choose from.. She let me choose my fabric she even told me the numbers of the fabrics she had available so i could go to my local fabric stores and feel and touch them before I decided and color wise as well.. very very helpful.. I just love her personality and her work is amazing!! Also yes she does do custom made she can take the top of one and pair it with the bottom of another.. she is just awesome she also has pre designed dresses on her website you can just google Ieie Dress and she comes up 🙂 I know it sounds cheesy but for those of us brides who cant afford to spend thousands on a dress.. but still know the special importance of it.. I really suggest going to your local shops trying on everything falling in love and then going home and emailing wendy to make one from the dresses you loved gather pictures and send them to her with your ideas.. because in the shop when I put on that anne barge dress i knew I loved it.. but when I put on my actual dress for the first time.. I cried.. my mom cried and all my bridesmaids cried it was amazing.. Just because you aren’t rich doesn’t mean you don’t deserve that feeling of the perfect dress! my dress in total was $500 🙂 and it is the only one in the world.. Talk about special! lol

If I could change one thing about my wedding, it would have been the dress.  I asked that it be customized.  I got a bad feeling about the lack of communication but had already committed to the dress.

When received the dress, there were a lot of things wrong with it.  The top layer of the dress did not match up with the bottom layer as it does in the picture.  The dress was way too short.  And sadly, the customizations that I had asked for and had even sent pictures back and forth with feedback from the dressmaker, they weren’t done properly.  I asked for a ruffle around the top to hang off the shoulders, I got a ruffle around the bodice of the dress instead.  I asked for thin straps, the dress came with them almost in a V shape around my neck.  I was so upset.  I contacted the dressmaker, she accused me of sending the wrong measurements (which have been double-checked and do not match at all with the skirt of the dress) and offered to fix the dress only if I payed more.

Since I no longer trusted her and was running short on time, I asked for extra fabric so I could take it to a local seamstress.  She did send the extra fabric and gave me a credit of $50.  It cost me a couple hundred dollars to make the dress wearable.  The seamstress couldn’t use the extra fabric, she said the dress had been made on industrial equipment that she couldn’t match.  We tried to fix the ruffle and the straps but ended up removing all of it.  The seamstress had to fix the way the dress was gathered, it was very puffy on one side and not on the other.  She was able to add a little length onto the bottom layer of the dress but I had to settle for wearing flats instead of the 3 inch heels that I had purchases and had been measured in.  It was horrible.  The dress was pretty after the alterations but it wasn’t what I wanted.  I cringe when I look at the pictures and am very disappointed.  After all the money I feel that I wasted on this dress, I could have paid more and gotten a dress that I loved.

Feel free to contact me for pictures.

thank you so much for posting this. It makes me feel better to read. I am considering using Wendy and have been talking to her about the dress I want. knowing that she showed you different lace materials and was willing to work with you makes me feel so much better. I was on the fence but now I am thinking I will have her make my dress. I know I will have the dress I want.
